I wondered the same thing. Maybe he saw all the crappy stuff coming up and chose culinary school.

Air Force!! in the Air Force you can do any job that's in the civilian world, and some that aren't. I had an awesome time in the Air Force (20 years), I met alot of great people, and went to alot of cool places. Being in the military doesn't have to mean you get a job killing people- (Infantry).

If you aren't Infantry, you're support for the Infantry. Remember that...

Your not joining the Marines. You are being granted the opportunity to become a Marine.

We would turn down more civilians then we would accept.

The Marine Corps is cutting down in size. This is the peace time Marine Corps we are shrinking to 186,100.

Make sure your PFT is 1st class.Your 3 mile run should be in the low 19's to 18 minute mark. 20 pull ups should not be an issue and your 100 crunches in the timed event should not be an issue to accomplish with time to spare.

The Corps is only accepting the best of the best now.Iraq is done and Afghanistan is winding down.

Ok so my goal is to become an army ranger or go coast guard. Would it be best to go to an academy school? (west point or coast guard academy in my place) or should I enlist? I understand it's not easy to get into an academy school and my grades arent the best. What's the best path to take?

Ranger or Coast Guard ... Seems like a jump between the two ... Academies aren't the only ways to be an officer ... Academies have feeder schools (think community colleges) ... Easier to get into if you don't have a general for a dad ... Then after a couple years you get into the academy of choice ... There are a billion ROTC programs that will take you to the same end game ... Personally ROTC is the way to go in my book ... If the question is Officer or Enlisted??? That will take some soul searching ... I'll put it this way ... Military careers are short ... I'm retiring in my 40s ... Start planning for after the military now before the end sneaks up on you ... Which leads me back to a previous statement ... ROTC is the way to go in my book ... Coast Guard or Ranger ...
