Maybe George Isn't an Idiot

Quote:
George Bush's resignation speech...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Normally, I start these things out by saying 'My Fellow Americans.' Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.

I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.

The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people.
I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on
in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours.
And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and
figure it out.

Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and
the news media.

Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are
too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's
increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small
handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and
beachfront property than your economic security.

We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this 'blood for oil'
thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq's
oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me
this 'Bush Lied...People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you
morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in
Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that
the intelligence was faulty.

Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the
goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was
official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named ' Clinton '
established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?

Now some of you morons want to be led by a junior senator with no
understanding of foreign policy or economics, and this nitwit says we
should attack Pakistan , a nuclear ally. And then he wants to go to Iran
and make peace with a terrorist who says he's going to destroy us. While
he's doing that, he wants to give Iraq to al Qaeda, Afghanistan to the
Taliban, Israel to the Palestinians, and your money to the IRS so the
government can give welfare to illegal aliens, who he will make into
citizens, so they can vote to re-elect him. He also thinks it's okay for
Iran to have nuclear weapons, and we should stop our foreign aid to
Israel. Did you sleep through high school?

You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during
the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic
models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because
fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were
simply able to out spend and out-tech them.

That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care
if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as
they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they
can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over
the globe.

You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in
the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because
you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military,
law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure
of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a
long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think
a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.'

Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things
through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that
wars should last a few months, a few years, tops.

Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy.
Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to
a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might
just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the
same thing.

In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over
the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times, USA
Today, or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any
smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol or Dancing with
Stars.

I could say more about your expectations that the government will always
be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city
that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.

I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own
wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion
that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.

So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient
house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be
fully self-sufficient for years. No one ever heard of Crawford before I
got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever
hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before
the last pillars of America fall.

Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new
President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I
still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining
who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2012.

So that's it. God bless what's left of America.

Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.
Yeeeeeee Hawwwwwwww!!!

LOL I got that in an email probably 6 months ago or so. It was a good bit before primaries. I printed it out, made copies, and left them laying around my work

Bush may not be a speaker, and he may lean left on some issues, but he has done a LOT more good in the last 8 years than people give him credit for. His not perfect, and has made some mistakes, but he is certainly not a bad president.

I so agree with these posts. I'm so sick of seeing so many Americans that are so blind, so ignorant to what is really taking place in America right now. One of the constant isults is the majority of people calling him a nitwit, retard, dumbass, ect... The man is quite brilliant. Seriously, when did Yale start accepting the mentally disabled?

As much as I agree whole heartedly with the previously mentioned article and everything it says, credit must be given to Craig R Smith who wrote the article in 2006 for WorldNetDaily.com.

Backed up by Snopes.

That said, if a major media personality would actually present something like this, the pathetic sheep in this country might actually pay attention.

90% of the citizens in this country have NO CLUE what it is like in the rest of the world, vacation travel and spring break to cancun does not count. Those of us who have served overseas and been stationed in some of the worst armpits in the world, we have a clue. I've seen a Guardia shoot a purse snatcher with a 3 shot burst in Spain, pick the purse up, give it back to the owner and walk away, thats just for starters.
We have problems at higher levels, yea, jobs are going overseas, why ? Could it be the 35% corporate tax we have, 2-3x's higher than anywhere else in the world. Little things like that are the problem.
I would still like to see a lottery election for Senate and Congress, you get your SS# picked out of a hat and 'your're it' for one term. Get ALL politicians out and get normal people in there for a 3-4 terms. One goal, flat tax, another goal, simplification of the laws. Prevent people who WANT the job from getting in office and allowing them to setup their gravy train. Reduce the time that the senate and congress can be in session, heck remove the heat and a/c from government buildings, that would cut their desire to sit in session.
We elected officials to represent us way back when, when it was impractical for the entire voting population to be there too, well guess what, It's not impossible anymore, with the internet we have the capability for every voting american to be sitting right there and voicing our approval or disapproval of everything they vote on. Then we can see what happens when a politician votes for a bill when showing on his screen that 90% of his constituents are saying NO.

Congress has a single digit approval rating. But, let's just see how many of them are tossed out come November 4. If you are going to complain about it, and give the opinion that you do not agree with what they are doing, why send them back for another term?!

Remember the definition of INSANITY.

If 175 of your coworkers got fired at once, would you be inclined to take stock of your job performance and maybe change the way you do things?

Oh wait, that would make sense. The others probably wouldn't get the message in this case.

I don't think it could be done peacefully. They might resist a bit having their lively hoods removed the same way most Americans are loosing theirs by their trade legislation and economic packages to corporate american companies.

Bush was not a good governor in Texas, and his record as a businessman is not good either. He has always defunded or somehow quashed any information, no matter how relevant, that made him second guess his actions. He's a product of extreme privilege. He did not originate the problems we are facing, but he sure postponed doing anything about them at a critical time. I see his failure in his weak emotionalism and inability to listen to counsel that was not in agreement with his ideas.

That sounds almost like it was copied right out of a liberal media news article.
Just curious... Being from New York, what do you know of his time as Governor? Do you have first hand experience as a Texas voter, or are you basing it simply on what a quite obviously profit motivated, blatently biased news media has told you to think?

Born in Dallas, and lived in the Texas for more than 40 years. Always a voter. I even got caught up in the caucus this year.

Specifically, I take issue with his defunding of air testing measures so business interests would not have to implement minimal modifications to plants. I lived down wind from a concrete plant in Fort Worth. Cancer was documented as being significantly higher in the blow path. Bush simply took all funding away from the very small department that was assigned to measure air quality so it could not be determined if air quality modifications were needed to meet standards.

It is this pattern, of not taking health and living standards seriously, and placing any business lobby ahead of common sense that bothers me. His business failings are also very well documented. I suspect you don't read Molly Ivins though, as she is obviously liberal.

What's odd, is I consider myself conservative, at least fiscally. I don't think the Republicans have been responsible with money for a long time though.

Well, its more than obvious that being responsible with money is not a qualification for serving as a congressman, senator, president, or anyone connected to them!

Question is, why the hell not. I actually believe we can compete economically, maintain a standard of living, and still be an attractive place to do business. Problem is, business will ALWAYS tell you they don't have enough and will go under if you don't ease regulations or do whatever it is they imagine they need.

Educating the kids isn't directly related to the next quarter's profit, but it sure is related to the long term national interest.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

You bail people out who lent tons of money they didn't have, to people that couldn't pay it back. It makes perfect sense to "lend" hundreds of billions that we don't have with no reasonable expectation that we will ever see any of it back. (sarcasm, again) I'd say 80% or better of the congress didn't understand exactly what it was that they voted for in the bailout. They were just told, "WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING", so they did.

Absolutely. Hang the teachers unions.

For the record, I think George is an idiot.

Well, we voted for change in 2006 and elected a democratic congress, now Obama and the democrats want us to vote for more change, frankly I can't afford any more change. Remember, congress controls the purse strings, not the president.

We all know that any candidate we are allowed to vote for has been has been signed off on by corporate interests and is not going to do anything unfriendly to the banking, defense, O&G, or big pharma industries.

I noticed Ron Paul didn't get very far. I would have given him my vote in a heartbeat, or Mike Gravel—he is an American hero with an amazing record of civil service, but he didn't get very far.

The only corporations that gave us these candidates were the media. The manipulation of the primaries was disgusting to watch.

Ron Paul and Mike Gravel didn't make the cut because they're completely out of touch with reality.
Wait, Did you really mean to say Mike Gravel? I thought you said you were fiscally conservative?

Well now gentlemen, we all know that the current canidates, the seated executive branch, and, for that matter all the so-called "leaders" in this country are just pawns for the Pentavirate.

I think I could deal with Colonel Sanders right now, the rest I don't know about. Fried chicken could rule the world for all I am concerned.

It would be nice to think we could fight our way out of problems. I suspect that our most potent weapon is our liberal media, which does the job of homogenizing cultures the way religion and mission work used to.

And at this point, in reality, we have not taken car of our economy. Anyone have historical examples of imperialistic cultures that ran out of cash? It is a classic mistake.

Our liberal media is a major part of the problem. Not the solution. They think that they are on the par of religion and mission work, but they are sadly mistaken.

Can you say "ROME". Producing nothing and importing everything.
