Miami Dolphins game question(s)

We're going on vacation in Cape Coral Fla. at the end of the month and I noticed there is a Dolphins game on a Thursday night against the Bengles while we're there. Is this a safe venue to watch a game with my wife? I've heard horror stories from other venues and don't feel like having any problems while on vacation. Also, if it's good to go anyone have any recommendations for a place to stay the night of the game that's clean and safe, near the stadium?

Thanks for the help

Bob

I have to believe it can't be too bad. Miami and Florida in general is such a tourist destination, they probably get a lot of out of towners going to games.
No offense to anyone but I would stay away from places like Philly (I've done it, it was a nightmare being a Bostonian) and Oakland (the Black Hole)....
I've had friends, even Pats fans go to Dolphins games and never heard anything bad.
Get your tix and go enjoy....

my buddy was there last week for the Ravens game. He travels a lot to follow the team. Said the stadium was nice as were the people. Said he took some crap from Miami fans, but felt it was just regular trash talk, good natured. Said it was better than other stadiums he's been in.

FWIW, he felt comfortable representing the visiting team.

I don't know about Miami in general, but I've been to Jets stadium and cheered the Bills, so I know about potential scary situations. I've also cheered the Saints on in the playoffs in Seattle.

You'll probably get some people talking trash, but as long as you either don't engage or are polite, they'll likely leave you alone or just keep it to friendly banter. I make sure to not get too aggressive, and not get too boastful if my team is winning.

I dont have a dog in the fight here. I'm neither a Bengels fan or a Miami fan. Unfortunately I'm a Giants fan. Just wanna go to a game is all.

I don't think you'll have a problem at all then.

Out of curiosity, why would anyone vacation here? Don't get me wrong, I love living here, but all of the attractions are in surrounding towns....

The entire gulf coast of Fla is fantastic- especially if you like to fish. Lots of good cruises leave out of Miami. And if you live on the east coast, airfare to the area is pretty cheap. Lots more to Florida than the giant rat!

We have a house there. We get down there 2 times a year for bout 2 weeks at a clip. I love it there, quiet and off the beaten path. Typically at the end of our stay I dont want to leave. Go to Sanibel every day just about too.

Having spent most of my life in south Florida (Ft. Lauderdale and Miami), I've been there tons of times for different events.

I'll also tell you that depending on how much you want to spend for accommodations in south Florida, you may want to stay in Ft. Lauderdale. (slightly cheaper...although, I haven't been there in about 6 years so shop around.) SunLife stadium is just south of the county line between Miami-Dade County and Broward County. The stadium isn't in "downtown" per se...rather, it's pretty far west out of the city. It's actually in a city called Miami Gardens. With traffic in and out of the stadium, where you stay isn't really a huge factor.

Traffic leaving the stadium can be a b!tch so watch the overhead signs or you could wind up headed in the wrong direction.

They have security...and lots of it. Keep your valuables locked up and out of sight in the Jeep.

Check the rules of what you can bring into the stadium. Some of my friends that still live down there say the rules recently changed. Here's the website for the stadium - Sun Life Stadium

Generally, people attending the games are fairly nice. Of course, there's always the guy/group/crowd that has had way too much to drink and think that they are invincible...security usually handles that quickly but if you encounter someone wanting to start something, just keep your mouth shut and keep walking - they usually won't follow.

With the game being a late game, security (police) will be plentiful.

Good luck and GO PHINS!!
