And Amy will whoop you too. She's more subtle about it, stealth beatings are her job.

OK gang, I got the rags soaked and wrapped around the handles. once I light the torches, I'll start handing them out. Form a nice, even, single file row. There are enough torches to go around.

Do we hang 'em, burn 'em or what?!

I must also have a look at this "Pirate" thread. I like pirates.

Pirate4x4.com - The largest off roading website in the world.

Have at it! You wouldn't even be an appetizer on that forum.

The mob mentality is an interesting study. In the real world (Non-internet) people engage in the mob mentality when the situation is so out of control that they feel the chance of being caught is slim and their annonimity will protect them. Few individuals would try to tip over a police car alone, but in a large group people feel the power shifts and it's cop car tipping time. This annonimity is huge on the net.

A wise man once told me to treat your family with the respect you'd give a stranger. If you met me in a dark alley, you would show me respect, because I'm big, maybe a little scary and you wouldn't be sure if I might knock your teeth out. But, we treat our friends and family with disrespect often, because we feel we can get away with it. We know they won't knock our teeth out. The internet is the same. No chance of getting a beating. I think the lack of fear of getting a beating (from parents, teachers, cops) is one of the problem allowing our society to get so out of control. Just my $.02

I agree with you. When there are no real consequences, there is no reason for people to be responsible for their actions, in their minds.

I was asking specificly about "your" pirate thread you made mention of. Is it here or there? I'd like to take a look at it.

I have so many usernames on so many 4wd forums I almost need a spreadsheet to keep track of all of them.

I know what Pirate4x4 is and what its about, I'm on many boards that are as bad if not worse.

I think some of the animosity that develops goes back to the "familiarity breads contempt" issue: Many people are trying to express their knowledge and impress themselves to the group. Some people are mature and responsible about it and some need to aquire some inter-personal skills.

The group voice offers moderation. The mob voice offers anarchy.

I think the difference here at WF is that there is enough common interest with the Jeep heritage to hold the crowd together as a productive group. The Jeep heritage is bigger than any single member, but membership is critical to supporting the heritage. It's a self regulating process. The group voice protects the community.

Here you go.

Lets not turn this into Pirate 4X4!

Took me a minute or two to find it.

I'm a member of another forum, college humor, as I am a college punk, and you guys were much nicer to me when I first started. I haven't had that much time to comment, but you guys have helped me out with my jeep, from buying it to fixing it, to just enjoying it. I feel like some of you are older, so I should be more respectful, and it keeps me on line.
