mom... I'm in trouble...

That's what I heard when I picked up the phone last night at midnight. It's amazing the things that run through your mind when your kid calls you in the middle of the night. I'm so glad it was just a case of his friend running out of gas and leaving him high and dry in the middle of nowhere, but for a moment I couldn't bear to hear his next words.

It only took me about 10 minutes to get across town but when I did I couldn't find him and his phone wasn't working. The ten minutes or so looking for him seemed like hours. This morning, I feel like I've been on a bender.

Kids.

...but I'm glad that in the grand scheme of things, it was really nothing.

I have made those call before, glad I never recieved one.

Glad to hear it was a minor thing, I hope he realizes how much you love him, and I hope he tells you back!

Just wait until you run out of gas on a night run and have to call him.

Be glad he calls you and not somebody else. That's always how my stories ended up with a non happy ending. Had I just called my mom everything would have been gravy.

Been on both sides of that situation.

My prayers are with all of ya'll with growing families.

Note... my oldest is 23 and we will be there always when that phone rings and that voice says, "Dad, I......."

I'm glad he's ok and it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
I'm dreading my daughter reaching that age. I remember what I was like then.

i remember back when i was a lot more young, how cool my dad was...still is a great man, but i remember how much he always stressed that no matter what, he would always be there for me...

my parents are divorced, have been since i was 4, and they both remarried to great people, im lucky for that too, but i remember when i was only 14 or 15, and having some problems at home with my mom smoking, my dad tried to talk me into moving in with him to finish my high school...and said if i ever had a problem with my mom, to call him, no matter what time it was, 2 AM, what ever, and he would drive the 2 hr round trip to pick me up and take me back to his place

thats why i love my dad and thats why i want to be like him in some way

now, instead of being 1 hr away, he is 10 hrs away, but if i absolutely needed him, he would drop everything at the drop of a hat to help

Darn kids! I know all the heartache I put my mom through, I don't want to deal with that one day.

Yeah!!! Me too... My oldest daughter is 17 going on 23.... I'm just waiting for the whole "Ummm...Dad me and Bobby have something to tell you!" thing! This will no doubt begin my prison sentence!

Tiny I'm glad everything is gonna be allright! It is a Miracle that both me and my son made it through his teenage years alive! It was worth it though, he turned out to be a good person!

If I didn't call one of my parents when something happened, no matter how small, even if its to just inform them, I'd be hearing about it for weeks.

Ain't kids fun?

I told him a while ago if he needed me to come get him, middle of the night or whenever, just call. I'd come get him no questions asked. And I did last night, but he always spills when I don't ask

Yeah, Chris I had the get out of jail free calls also. Never had to use them, but for darn sure if I had been in trouble I would've called for help. Glad the boy was good to go and no worries on the situation.
