The notion that squirreled nuts are the means to survival. Retirement, to me, is living 100% self sufficiently. Money, to me, is not a scorecard, but rather a means to an end. Unfortunately, the govt keeps shortening my stack through ponzi schemes like SSI - otherwise I would retire at 35. Instead, we're hoping for 45.
As the other poster commented, working as a banker is a good idea, but even their free money train (QE) may end soon (thank Jesus) which will collapse their artificial market of commodities. Expensive start-up cost, too.
Or you can spend half a million to get schooled in misguided economical concepts and come out gambling with other peoples life savings, those guys tend to do ok, despite how bad at their jobs they actually are. Probably need a rich daddy to get in that club, though. Those guys never suffer market hicups - they just take more tax money.
I still think politics are the easiest way (in America) to make the most while doing the least, particularly at the Fed level. The best benefits available in the US today are govt benefits, and their retirement is about as good as you can get, too. If that be your concern, get elected, or work for the DoD. Big $$$, comparatively speaking.
Remember, 'The pursuit of Money is the root of all that is Evil'. Don't get dollar vision!
