Movie room... what is your must have

Now that my parents have and empty room, my dad wants a movie theater style room. We have the projector and the 96" pull down screen, but now what would you add? What would be your must have? He is going to do the carpet like a movie theater and walls. He is also looking into getting some lovesac's.

I would add a Surround Sound System. If I had the room I'd add a mini-fridge and a popcorn machine.

At my age I am not afraid to say I am now mostly a Mall Crawler, but a lot of times I have the muddiest Mall Crawler around. You can curse a Mall Crawler but at least we don't own a Trailer Queen.

x2 on the surround sound. We had it put in when we built our house. All speakers are mounted from the ceiling. I always forget they are there until the THX sound check starts. Gets me every time.

I have a 150 inch screen. Jbl audio 5.1 with 12" subwoofer and a receiver capable of pushing VCR/DVD/tv/radio/tuner plus the projector. Also have 9 theater seats mounted at floor level, 4" and 8" platforms. Total cost < 2000.00. great for the kids, football games, movie nights with the wife. Did the entire install myself. Any questions that I can help with feel free to ask.

Good call on the LoveSacs. Maybe a couple of recliners?

Don't forget the little LED lights to mark the aisles.

Big. Ass. Sub.

If the neighbors don't call 911 during action movies, you need a larger amp. Seriously, think water cooled.

I would go with Loveseat recliners instead of individual seats. Def consider some sort of sound dampening / sound proofing, and a ridiculous sound system. I have an 11-channel BOSE surround sound system that is loud enough to wake the neighbors, but if I had a bigger budget I would install all the speakers into the ceiling/walls so you didn’t see anything.

They also have remote controlls now that run on FM frequencies so you can put the cable box/dvd/tuner in a closet so you dont see that either, my grandparents have one and its really nice to have everything stored out of sight.

Posters of favorite movies for decoration. Shelves for the movies. A player that will store favorites so you don't have to dig them out every time you want to watch them.
