Mr. President, tell me something I didn't know

In a sobering holiday interview with C-SPAN, President Obama boldly told Americans: "We are out of money."

C-SPAN host Steve Scully broke from a meek Washington press corps with probing questions for the new president.

SCULLY: You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?

OBAMA: Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we've made on health care so far. This is a consequence of the crisis that we've seen and in fact our failure to make some good decisions on health care over the last several decades.

I got a few emails from "President Obama" over the last few days asking for his supporters to make a big push for health care.

Funny, every poll except his own says 75 + % of American's don't want government health care, they want the current system reformed. I mean really, after government run medicare, social security, and the way they are handling their new company "GM," how can ANYONE possibly think this would be a good idea?

They did another poll (I forget who, I think FOX reported it) that said only like 10% of Americans didn't have health care, and the ones that don't are either A. Living on unemployment, or non US citizens (ie. illegal aliens). They said almost all of the 10% though were people that OPTED not to get COMPANY HEALTH CARE because they wanted the extra money, and didn't think health care was worth it.

Just because some people don't want to spend the 10-$20 a month for their company health care doesn't mean the rest of us have to sit on a waiting list for 3 years to see a specialist. Now people like me, that have to see a specialist regularly (I have to see a Gastro), are going to have to pay STUPID high prices for health care just to actually see doctors.

Funny how no politicians, including Mr. Obama, will ever have to use this "incredible new health care" that the rest of the world has major problems with, but the citizens are being forced into. Also kind of funny that Mr. Obama is the only person in American that didn't realize spending trillions of dollars we don't have is a bad idea.....

I've never seen company health care cost anywhere near 10 to 20 bucks, living on unemployment is what a whole lot of people are doing these days because of the job market, and 20 bucks buys groceries for the here and now instead of insurance for the maybe someday.

good private health care for my family is 800 smackers/ month, and half way good is 600, and we can't afford either since my wife's employer dumped it.

I'm lucky. I only pay about $80.00 per month for Medical, Vision and Dental. The place i work for pays the rest. $10.00 office visits, $100.00 Co-pay at hospitals. $15.00 RX.

I've had several jobs that provided single employee health coverage for less than $20 per month. It depends on who you work for and how much your skill set is worth.

When I owned my own business a few years ago and was purchasing my own insurance I was able to join a group plan put together by a small business club that got our family rate down to less than $500 per month with Blue Cross.

Nationalized health care will not be free, it will cost everybody in higher taxes and poor service. The government does nothing well.
