It's in the off topic section. we can be off topic. No need to be a subject nazi.

The only redeeming quality to a rubicon is the transfer case, everything else that makes them a rubicon sucks.. especially on tjs.. id rather have a high pinion dana 30 than the rubicons low pinion "dana 44" which I hardly consider a d44 as the only thing d44 about them is the center section, the rest is a d30. And for those that dont know, front axles are stronger when the gears are reverse cut for high pinion.

I'd rather the high pinion too. However you still have weak outers. So the rears are just as weak as a regular sport when you think about it. Then you have the lockers. They are decent but they aren't ARBs. My Sahara has the same width fender flares so they don't count... Transmissions are the same, as is the motor. But you still got that rubicon sticker!!!!!

I like my Sahara. I like the painted flares and interior. Rubicons are nice and can go more places stock than mine... But my jeep will be built one day. So rubi, Sahara, or sport doesn't matter one bit.

Yeah but a jeep d44 and a jeep d30 have the same outers so it comes down to r&p strength, sure the d44 is bigger and thus has thicker teeth, however under load, a low pinion front axle the pinion gear will want to pull away from the ring gear, causing the teeth to engage where they are thinner..

The rear d44 is definitely stronger than the rear d35, design wise and r&p strength, but I wouldn't limit myself to an axle that's max suggested tire size by most is 35s.. I've heard of people blowing d44 rears up quite often.

The problem with the 44 front is the outers. I can run a D30 with a locker, 35s and 4.88s and not have to worry about it blowing apart. But I do have to worry about the outers. That's where they normally break at on the rocks. I never worried about my D30 blowing apart and my buddies never worried about it neither, so the D44 is just a gimmick to me.

I'm not even going to say anything about a d35. They aren't made for rock crawling and shouldn't have even been put on a jeep lol.
