it is still possible to have issues at 3, or even 2.5, just less likely

Not sure what the exact numbers but I've heard the general rule of thumb is to keep it at or under 3 inches. I know I'm going to keep it at 2.5 so I don't run into any problems.

Another thing... Are you planning on re-gearing? You will loose a lot of power when you go all the way up to 35's. It's going to be another grand or more to re-gear. I have 3.73 gearing and took a huge power loss when I went up to 33's. I can't even imagine going to 35's with these gears.

its a rubber boot that goes over your shock, they trap water inside and cause the piston to rust out and fail sooner

thats cause your mechanic is trying to save you some coin. the taller the tire, the more expensive it gets.
also, i can only think of one company that makes a 34, and it is only for a 15 inch wheel.

33s and a 2 inch lift is going to raise you up about 4 inches taller then you already are.

And trust me. Going from those stock 29 inch tires to 33's is a HUGE change. Slap some 15 inch wheels on there and put some 33x12.5x15 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs on em.

2.5 inch BB

I've heard that most 2.5 inch lifts actually raise the Jeep a little more than 3 inches. Personally I would go with the 2.5 inch kit. I think anything more than that on a 2-door with 33's is too much.
