Maybe something will work out that will allow you to move there. With todays technology, at least you can communicate in ways other than snail mail. I was just talking about that with mom. Dad did three tours in Viet Nam.She said that was probably the toughest part of their marriage. Back then all they had was mail and it took forever to get from point a to point b. Now there is instant messaging, video conferencing, email, and telephone service just about everywhere. Doesn't make things any easier for you but maybe it will all work out for the best.

That's an hour north of where I grew up. I take it there's no possibility of you relocating?

Not really.. got too much crap here to move there.. not enough money.. she will move back when she gets done with schooling.. Shes going to for a medical billing and coding program. The reason she moved was because she couldn't find work here after being fired from her job just before I deployed because my son needed to go to the emergency room and she didn't call in. He ended up needing a spinal tap.. I thought it was bullshit personally.. here I am training across the country and there was nothing I could do.. so I supported us since then and its put a huge financial strain on us.. especially since I can't find a good steady job since coming home..

How long ago did they move? It's been recently hasn't it? Seems like the last time we talked about this you were saying they were moving instead of they moved.

I know what you mean. It's like that everywhere. Is she planning on staying in Iowa or eventually moving back?

I know it doesn't help, but it sucks all over. I moved here to KY cause my folks were here and I could stay with them til I found a job and got on my feet. I had a job making 17-18 an hour before I moved and now am barely making more than min. wage. But I had to get my kids to a less volatile environment. With me working nights, they had too much opportunity to get into trouble. Here it's a little better. Other than money issues. Was a trade I was willing to make for their well being.

Id do the same thing if I were you.. my childs well being is more important than how much money I make.. as long as I can afford to feed and shelter my family.. I wish I made the kind of money I did a few years back when I was a personal banker.. but it wasnt the job for me.. I really don't like retail sales especially when sales goals are everything.. I didnt like the whole cold calling customers aspect.. id much rather take the approach I was taking and get my business from word of mouth and great face to face customer service.. but businesses dont care.. they want results now

Yeah we all have to do the best with what we have. What is it they say? When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Well I think my squeezer is broke. Haha

I actually wrote a MS excel add-in program to make cargo bid packages that were used to send to major ocean shipping companies so they could send in bids to the us govt for taking the cargo.. and it saved hours upon hours of time for our battalions operations officer, not to mention eliminated human error by who knows how much.. and the reason I did it? Was because I was bored of my regular day to day work and wanted to see if I could do it lol

I'm not really sure how busy things are going to get.......or lack there of......the way the economy is going..........and it really doesn't help that I'm coming off of nearly a year of not working.......but my dad runs a large portion of the CDA Great Floors in commercial sales and I'm his lead installer........so.....if you have your licenses and such......I can send you in and you can get setup to do some of their work. I also know a bunch of lead installers that might be able to use a helper? I typically do tile, hardwood/laminate and LVT

I've done just about every single type of flooring.. its all been under the table though so I have no real proof of it.. I cant speak for all Great Floors but the installers that work for them around here suck.. lol.

We mostly focus on carpet install.. my uncle also sells the products he installs so he obviously makes money off of the sale of the product moreso than the labor..

He also makes good money off demo.. has a few demo machines and actually personally knows a guy who's patented and produced a lot of flooring demo equipment.. I know its sold by a company called National.. he has said time and time again that the machines have more than paid for themselves lol
