Man,this is horrible,to own something new from 97,put over 180,000 miles on it,customizing it all these years just to have some scumbag(s) take it from you.I know a little how it feels,I had a brand new motard motorcycle stolen right from my backyard. The bike was 5 weeks old,but already had quite a few bucks in mods done. Its a very bad feeling.I hope you get it back in one piece.

Man, I'm sorry to hear this brotha. I've spoken with you, but I hear nothing but good things.

I'm sure you'll get it back. But if I were you, I don't know what I'd want more. The Jeep or the ones who took it.

Jerry B, it didn't take me long to figure you out on here since I joined the Jeep family last year. I have the impression that you feel as though the knowledge you possess about jeeps can never be appreciated unless you share it...and YOU are very generous.
When I log on and read the TJ posts on here, I always look for your name to see what YOU have to say. I have even told my wife about you but she seems like she could care less about my jeep addiction!!! (HER LOSS)
I'd like to tell you to "keep your chin up", but the attitude you possess on here tells me that you will take this with a grain of salt and let your insurance company and the authorities handle it.
All I ask is that you don't allow this crappy experience, deter you from continuing to help us that are less knowledgable.
Good luck my friend!!!

Man that hurts bad. Maybe you'll get lucky and it was just some a**hole looking for a joyride and the police will find it in the next county. If I was in the area I'd be on the lookout for ya. Maybe one of our fellow WFers in the area will spot it before anything happens to it.

Hey Jerry, this is really sad news.
You should (if you haven't already) post it up on RAMFM, ROF and Jeepforum.
I would be happy to post it up on our club forum.

Do you have some contact info, just in case?

Kate

All I can keep saying guys is thank you & that I'm overwhelmed with the support & comments the theft has caused. It is truly heartwarming, I actually got a little choked up this morning when sharing much of it with the wife.

The Jeep community is awesome, I can confirm that from first-hand experience.

Jerry, you have always been there for us. It's the least we can do. Each of us feels your loss and our thoughts are with you.

I posted it up on our club site and ROF for you.
You never know, maybe we'll get lucky. Yours is pretty distinctive. Especially with those unpainted full corners.

Hey Jerry,
One of our club members is out in that area. He wanted me to ask if you've checked out the auto junk yards off the 905.

He's a Sailor, his bride is a Marine, they are going to keep a look out for you.

Thanks Kate, that is very much appreciated.

I kinda doubt my Jeep will be seeing a junkyard anywhere soon though. I think it was probably stolen by one of the local Mexican drug cartels, they use built Jeeps to get around the remote rugged areas that their drug operations are based in. From what I have learned since mine was stolen, it's common of them to steal Jeeps in the U.S. for that purpose.

Also, I've prowled the 905 area's junkyards looking for parts several times & there are so many that it'd probably take me 2-3 full days to look them all over. I'd guess there could be as many as 100 junkyards packed into that small area southeast of San Diego.

Jerry, I'm amazed at your ability to continue helping the community right now. It's a testament to your heart. When I told Mikey yesterday after school he tried very hard not to cry, then even harder for me not to see. Then he said you'd get it back. I hope he's right.

I am sorry Jerry. I lost my Jeep when my wife threw it through a light pole and totaled it out about 2 months ago. I really felt that I had lost a friend as it has been my Jeep for almost half my life and we had some really good times. I know that sounds crazy to most, but I am sure you understand. I wish you the best in finding it and I am sorry for your loss.

Jerry, I just don't know what to say... I'm at a loss for words (which is not a common occurrence). When Cain told me, I thought he was just jokin' around. But dam...... I'm sorry my friend, I hope you get it back in one piece.

I'm sorry to hear the news Jerry. Do you think the thieves knew what they were taking or was it just another random act of jeep violence?

While the Jeep was insured against theft, it was only insured for its ACV (actual cash value) so I'm likely going to be screwed big time on this.
