That car looks like a good place to park on.

I bet you see him swinging off the end of a shovel before long. I was supprised to hear that Salt Lake City residents can be fined if they dont shovel the snow off their sidewalks, is it that way anywhere else?

Many towns and cities have ordinances to force you to shovel snow and clean up leaves, keep you grass cut, bla bla bla

It's true. Almost all of the Salt Lake area from Clearfield all the way to Spanish Fork. In past years they (the powers that be) didn't push it to hard, but with the smaller towns crying about budgets, they are only giving 1 verbal warning and then a ticket. Usually only $15-20 the first time.

Most places in BC its law.... And if you dont, the city will do it and send you a bill for thier expenses. Like it costs 200 bucks to clear 50 or so feet of sidewalk with a bobcat. Yeah right

Here they can't use anything like that on a sidewalk,it would have to be sno blower or shovel,we have water main caps next to the sidewalks.

Yessir. Boise Idaho also has this. You're also liable if someone slips & injures themselves on the sidewalk in front of your home if you don't keep it clear.

Yep, everywhere I've lived has had that law. It's actually in my lease contract that my roommates and I are responsible for the sidewalk at our house up at school. Plus everyone else is elderly around us and brings us muffins and cookies all the time thinking we'd shovel for them. Sadly, no one is up there during winter break. Not to mention the fines in parts of NJ, like Mt. Holly, are pretty steep. And yes, you can be liable if someone slips and falls.

"brings us muffins and cookies all the time thinking we'd shovel for them".

Maybe they are just friendly and feel kind of sorry for you being away from home. If they live there year round they probably know no one will be there during the winter break and don't expect a thing in return.
