my new free truck

well, it was new 12 years ago .

since i'm selling the jeep, my parent's offered their ranger to me since they don't really ever use it. it's a 95 with a few miles and a few scratches on it, but it was free so i'm not complaining. getting this from them is going to speed up the process of me getting another TJ.

It's a Texas thing. Where do you poo? In doors? Hahahaha! Silly Californians.

Seriously though, why are you selling the Jeep?

His neighborhood is new and they're still building homes in the area. I don't think he wants the workers using his grass, so they give em plastic boxes.

Patrick, I still think you need a lift of some type and at LEAST some bigger BFG AT's. Put in some nice stereo parts and you're set! Your plan is on its way. Any biters on the TJ?

thanks for covering for me Paul. i was really starting to think people think i live out in the boonies with outhouses and such. haha .
well about the TJ......i decided that by selling it and getting rid of that monthly payment, my wife and i could pay a some stuff off realllllllly quick, basically leaving us 24-25 years old and debt free (besides the house). i figure that will be a great way to live and a great place for us to be bringing our soon to be born son into the world.....i think everyone understands that story at some point or another.
it really is the hardest thing i've had to do b/c it's not actually necessary and the jeep is my most favorite possession. i did place one stipulation on "The Plan"....as soon as it has run its course, i will search for and buy the cheapest TJ i can find, and proceed with an extreme build. it's going to be hard not having a jeep for what will be just under 2 years, but it will be worth it for my family in the end. plus, it could be a great father-son project.

i've actually been looking at lifts for the ranger. i don't really want to dump a whole lot of money into it, but i will be driving it everyday, so i think some amount will be reasonable. it seems lifts for such an old truck really are not very expensive at all. i think at very least i'll do body lift just to make it easier to get in and out of. i am already swapping in my stereo stuff. at very least i need to have some nice tunes for my daily commute to and from work.

already have the headunit in and the amp signal wires (remote and RCAs) run to the back ready for the amps to be mounted.

the truck came with 5x7s in the front doors and the rear panels, so i've had to make adapter plates to mount my 5.25"s from the jeep. they are a little small for the truck, but still light years ahead of the 5x7s.

so far i've only had sunday evening to work on it, so i didn't get too much done, but i should have both the 4 channel PPI speaker amp and the sub amp installed, and both rear speakers adapted, mounted, and wired up to the amp. and of course the JL sub will be thrown in there.

I understand your decision to sell your Jeep. I went through the same thing once. Fortunately I didn't get any takers and everything else worked out anyway. Family comes first. Maybe in a couple of years you can pick up a nice used JK to build up.

There's nothing wrong with putting family before personal pleasure for a while. I know it's been worth it for me. I now would love to hand down the TJ to my son when he gets old enough. In a way, I'm glad it worked out this way. He's 11 and by the time he's old enough to drive I'll be ready to move on to another Jeep.
