Exclamation Near death experiance!!

Well not quite but it scared me quite a bit.

It has been raining on and off today and a buddy of mine were bored and decided to go to a local "froad spot" and see how much more challenging some of the obstacles would be while they are wet.

On the road up there I stop at a light to make a left turn, my light turns green so I make a left turn onto a moderate incline to head up the road. I am by no means going fast and it was a very long slow left turn across a large intersection, but my rear end slid out and got hit by an idiot behind me who had been riding my ass for a few blocks.

He hit my rear bumper at just the right spot so that I slid even more and the side of my Jeep hit the side of his new looking accord. So I back up and turn around so I'm facing the right way and pull off to the shoulder and the guy follows me. I get out of my car and find that my Jeep hardly even had a scuff mark on it, only my tires hit his car and my bumper just had some of his paint on it.

The guy (older guy around 45-50) gets out of the car after he got off of his cell phone, (not sure if he was talking on it while he was driving or not.) he starts screaming at me and pushes me against my Jeep and tries to hold me there. Not wanting to push him into traffic I push him sideways and tripped him on my foot. (I'll admit it, I was just trying to push him off and tripping him was an accident.) Then the jackass gets up and started swinging at me wildly, I try to block as many of them as I could but he got one good one right to my ear and that really pissed me off so I shoved him as hard as I could and hit him in the face a couple times until he tripped over something and fell again. I got on top of him and pinned his arms to the ground with my knees. until someone came over from behind me and threw me off. Apparently all he saw was me hitting him and thought I was the one who started every thing and helped the guy up. Another person had stopped and walked up to me saying that he saw everything from a parking lot and that he and his family would testify what they saw.

The man starts screaming that I assaulted him and that he was going to sue and that his car was totaled. The only damage was to the sheet metal and he drove it away afterward. So one of the guys who saw it called the cops and they came and listened to both stories, the guy who hit me had calmed down by then and tried to act like I was some punk kid who lost control and told them that I spun out and hit him from the side. The people who saw it all told them exaclty what I did and they saw the dent on his front bumper and the marks on my rear. It was extremely obvious what really happened and they told him that he was lying and to just admit it. He eventually did, but refused to admit that he was the one who attacked me first but everyone else said otherwise. He also wants to sue because I "broke his nose" but I really don't think I did. It was just bleeding a bit but his lip was worse. (I'm really not trying to brag about it, I'm not really much of a fighter, I was just much bigger than him, he was only about 5'7" and relatively thin while I am 6'2", 200lbs)

So we have a court date in late January but the police said that if he had any sense at all he would just settle out of court. I could sue him but I won't, I'm not hurt at all, my Jeeps fine and I'm not that kind of person. I'm sure it won't be cheap to fix his car and I think the bloody lip and embarrassment of the whole thing is enough. The guy is really lucky that I'm 18, my birthday wasn't too long ago in July.

The whole thing took about 3 hours. My buddy and I ended up going to the spot later on and it wasn't even that great.

man that sucks, i can't believe people have no sense and control. i don't blame you for poppin him. its a darn good thing there was a witness to the whole thing other than the person that threw you off of him, or you'd be big time screwed. all that person saw was you on top of him. you would've all the sudden been at fault, and the aggressor with assault.

stupid situation, but glad it sounds like it will come out right.

Thanks guys (and girl) I hope everything goes smoothly and this idiot doesn't mess things up any more.

And yes I am extremely lucky that there were more witnesses, that would have been horrible!

did you get a copy of the report?. Second I would go ahead and have your Jeep looked at to make sure all is fine and good luck.

Yes I did, and the Jeep is perfectly fine, there are a few marks on the bumper and that's it.
