There has been a theft problem in this lot for months. In March, several people lost catalytic converters (?) and then in June it was air bags. The hospital has put up electric gates and cameras in the Doctor's lot, but so far nothing in the employee lot (where all the problems are). I'm going to call hospital administration today and threaten to sue them or something....
You go boy! The hospital has some nerve. I guess nurses are expendable... That is so typical. The doctors don't want their cute little Porsche's stolen or vandalized. And what if there is a psycho lurking about the the employee lot?
Or what if a nurse or CNA comes out and catches someone breaking into their car? Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
I guess it's gonna take someone getting hurt or killed for things to change! That was the exact way the hospital I worked at was. Cameras for the Docs, but the rest had to rely on a 78 year old, half crippled security guard.
One of the enterprising nurses took an opportunity one evening when coming in for the graveyard shift. She had had the window smashed in her car and had things stolen out of it on more than one occasion.
This night, she wasn't gonna just lay there and take it... She got right up on the bumper of a doctor who was pulling into the doctors lot and followed him in before the arm came down. It damn near caught the rear corner of her car... But they must have an electric eye on it or something.
You need a pass to get in to the doctors lot, but the electric eye opens the arm on the exit. So she had no trouble getting out in the morning. They tried to reprimand her for it, but she said "OK, then the next time, the Hospital can pay for the repairs for my car and offset the increase in my insurance premium!" "If I have to work here, I shouldn't have to pay higher insurance to do so!"
The hospital then started issuing passes to the RN's until the security on the employee lot was in place. Let me tell you, the Doctors threw a fit! The did not want anyone outside of their species or "under them" having the same rights and privileges!
