I like the new one best, they are fun to drive, have you seen a Morris 1100 over there? I had one ,was my first car. They are not as cute as the Mini but still fun , I had a 2 door

Glad you decided to just buy one without that rust cancer. That looked like a major job! >.<

In due time this thing will be quick. For now I just want all the kinks ironed out and a nice interior.

I had an extremely wicked idea a month or 2 ago and it won't go away. I haven't taken any measurements or done any research yet but the idea was to take the all-wheel drive Evo drivetrain and stuff it in the mini. The stock engine and turbo would be more than enough to propel the Mini into the 10 second range in the 1/4 mile. It's just a pipe dream though.

The short list is the engine needs to be tuned properly, it needs an electronic ignition system to do away with the points, dynamat the whole floor, new carpet in the car and trunk, new headliner, new seats, seat belts for the rear seat as it wasn't an option then, new dash, new gauges, new outer door handles, new mirrors all around, trunk lid weatherstripping, adjust the clutch, new interior door panels, complete new weatherstripping on the doors, new steering wheel, and a decent sound system. Ohh and a stage 1 performance kit for the engine.

No I've not seen the Morris 1100 here yet. When I get to one of the rallies I might see a few though.

Well yesterday I replaced the fuel level sending unit so now I have an accurate account of what's left in the tank. Man I wish all cars were as easy to do as this.

The old one.

The new one installed. If you don't count emptying the tank its a 5 minute job.

Here is where the gauge sits after dumping the 5 gallon jerry can in the tank. And yes that is accurate. The tank is a 7.5 gallon tank.

Added some goodies. A Pioneer stereo, cigarette lighter plugs, and an English flag shift knob.

This is the dash that will be going in the Mini eventually.

And today parked next to the Jeep. Notice the bottom cushion on the Jeep seats in relation to the roof on the Mini.

Well I placed an order today for some window gaskets and a stage 1 performance kit for the Mini today.

The kit includes a new intake manifold, exhaust manifold, carb needle, cone air filter, and a larger exhaust system. It looks like this...

Mini Sport - Tuning Kit - STAGE 1 - Carburettor - HS4 / HIF38 , T/KTK01

Hopefully it will be here before Friday so I can fit the kit and tune it on my 3 day weekend.

Well, part of my order came in today. The exhaust header and gasket, intake manifold, side window seals, trunk lid seal, rear window seal locking strip, carburetor needle and spring, and exhaust fitting kit all came in. I called the company to figure out where the rest of it was and they said it is on backorder with no ETA.

What didn't arrive is the Superflow Performance exhaust, cone filter, and the rear window seal.

So I can't install the exhaust system, intake manifold, carburetor kit, or the new rear window yet. I can install the new side windows and the trunk seal, that's it. I'm so bummed out. I have a 3 day weekend starting Friday and was going to put it all on but I guess not now.

Anyways here's what came in.

Well yesterday and today I took the chrome outer door handles off the old mini, swapped lock/tumblers and put them on my new mini. I also swapped over the left side window crank mechanism and window. Now it rolls up and down all the way. Then I put the rubber seal on the trunk lid. I discovered the other day that the chrome gas flap thing that was on there wasn't sealed. Far from it, I noticed that after filling it up and going around a turn that it was pouring out the side....A LOT!! So I took the locking gas cap off the old mini and put it on. Now its fixed and maybe my mpg will go up.

Then I took it down to the car wash on base, pressure washed the engine and washed the rest of the car.

You can see the old hardware on the first page.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread. So here goes...

The rest of the Stage 1 kit came in and it has been installed. It sounds so much better now. I still need to get the carb dialed in. She's runnin a bit crappy.

I took it up to a Mini show in Birmingham. That was a good time. I picked up a new carpet kit, some badges, and a new steering wheel.

At the show.

There are more pics of other Minis at the show here.
1978 and 1985 Mini 1000 - a set on Flickr

Badges

Carpet Kit

Badges mounted

And I also upgraded the coil cover.

I haven't installed the carpet kit yet because I'm saving up for a load of Dynamat. I'm going to strip out the carpet and sound deadener and cover the whole floor and up the firewall with the Dynamat and then lay the new carpet. I don't have a pic of the new steering wheel but.....

There's also a side project on the Mini that I don't think anyone here knows about yet but the orange Mini has been cut up. The pictures speak for themselves and I'm sure most of you will be able to figure out where this is going.

Looks good, i am helping my supervisor build his mini here in the states. Its a 72 Aston Mini, right hand drive and all. We are swapping in a Vtec Honda motor. Its going to be awesome once we get it done because its about 250 HP and a 500 lb car! Its a pricey kit for the swap.

Sorry to laugh but it's Austin not Aston. Aston is Aston Martin as in DB9.

But anyways... Ya I know what you mean about the Honda B series engine swaps. Minitec makes the front subframes for bolting em up. My co-worker has the subframe sitting in his garage for his Mini. And you aren't kidding about expensive. $2400 for just the subframe is ridiculous. I had the idea of running the stock AWD drivetrain from an Evo 8. That thing would be stupid fast.

Where'd your super get the Mini? Shipped over or bought there?

Some guy in Denver was selling it for a ridiculous cheap price, so he traded his bike for it. An EVO 8 drivetrain, would be insane. Do they make a sub frame for that? I personally would chop and EVO 8 but that would be a great machine.

No they don't make subframes, drive shafts or anything for it. It would have to be completely custom made, making it one of a kind

Well yesterday I dropped $400 on a DIS setup. I ordered a Megajolt setup and a tiggerwheel and sensor setup to wire into the Megajolt. Now all I need is to find a Ford Fiesta and rob the coils and EDIS off it.

We had a most excellent day at the Castle Combe circuit today. They had a Mini Action Day. They have a Mini car show with lots of vendors selling parts and its Mini only day on the race course.

I spent about £300 on some more bits for my baby. I bought a new set of weather stripping for the door windows, a polished steering wheel center for my new wheel, a set of door cards, a new choke cable, a new heater control cable, a chrome/glass inline fuel filter, and an electric fuel pump. The suspension bits are part of a complete camber kit for the car that came in the mail the other day and I just haven't fitted them yet.

Here are a few pics from the day. I didn't snap too many pics this time. I was mostly shopping and watching the track.
