I do often. Usually get to work between 2 and 4 in the morning and work between 4 and 8 at night, depending on the work load.

I miss working overnight.

I used to work 7pm to anywhere from 3-5am.

Now I have to wake my ass up a 5am every morning to be at work by 6:30. Ugh!

Trust me, with the way Pepsi pays, much better than being a merchandiser. You work by yourself or with someone?

Former. Also did warehouse for a while. Guys here were really cool and would let me work warehouse for OT anytime I wanted. Spent an average of an extra 5 hours a day picking orders. Helped the guy that normally worked warehouse get out earlier, usually by midnight if I worked with him. Otherwise, he was alone. Even on my days off, I'd go up and help out for about 5 hours. LOVED the checks when I started doing that. Eventually got fired for wrecking a Ranger. Hated merchandising, though. If I'd gotten my CDL, they'd have put me on a truck and let me drive bulk on Saturdays. They actually really liked me.

Yea you got that right about paychecks in summer. Working average of 20-30 hours ot is nice. I pretty much do everything here from picking to loading bulk to loading d bay to checking. Ohavrnt been here a year either. I do it all.

Im working on getting my cdl now

I wish I'd gotten my CDL. I likely would have stayed with them for a while. The guy that drove bulk while I was there retired last year and they got in touch with me and offered me his position if I could get my CDL pretty quick. I was going through some crap at the time, so I didn't take them up on it.

Most of the merchandisers working here have been there for several years. One merchandiser has been with Pepsi since '82. One of the current merchandisers (he was on route truck when I was there) has been there since '01. It can't be too bad of a place to work if these guys have been there that long. The other two merchandisers both came from Schwann's about the same time and have been there for 5 years. I kinda wish I was still there. I had the best merchandiser position. I was the roamer. Only on a route two days at a time.

I also miss taking home a case of Mt. Dew Live Wire anytime I wanted to. Everyone here did it, I don't know about where you are. Only thing that sucked was we couldn't buy at a discount. That went into effect about a week before I started.

I work 13s overnight. Being off four days each week seems like it would be nice, but a lot of time is spent recovering.

This was a Pepsi Americas thing I think it's all PepsiCo now, isn't it? Anyway, yeah, ordering drinks would have been nice. I wouldn't have minded paying for them, but the DM decided that since we couldn't BUY them anymore, everyone could snake one case a week and he'd deal with it if inventory ever got questioned. They came in and did inventory twice while I was working there but nothing ever got said to us about no longer getting drinks. I kept my cooler in the back of my Ranger filled with Live Wire. Never had a problem with anyone taking my cooler, although a couple of times I came out of one of the WalMarts and my last few LWs were gone. I caught a couple of guys looking in my cooler one day, but I think they were looking for beer.

So do you get cans or 20s for $7/case? With the deals WalMart has around here, $7/case of cans wouldn't be that great. We always took 20s. Even the DM would snake a case once in a while while he was at our warehouse.

Its pbg now and yea I get the 29oz. Turns out to be about 25 cents a bottle. And they do inventory every single night here.

We do however get all of the expired drinks most of the time

Expired drinks here were trashed immediately. I wasn't digging anything out of the trash. I did get alot of the Starbucks Fraps, though, because one in the case was busted. My ex loved those. We were a small warehouse, though, so I guess that's where the difference in inventory was. Like I said, most of the time, it was just one guy picking.

I used to work overnight in a large factory bakery. They had a retail shop open to the public as well and anything that didn't sell in two days went to the "free for employees" bin. After gaining 40 pounds in 4 months, I didn't want to see another pastry ever again.
