please remind me again where the ones in Iraq were at falling to their knees, the ones I met wanted to kill us. For some reason they didn't seem to care about a CNN camera.

Maybe you should vounteer for military as a patriot to help solve the problem

And what have you done for your country today-??

To many cry babies that dont step up to the plate-some were taught to respect authority even though you may not agree --check out volunteering for the wounded warrior program to see how so many young men-enlisted and officers-that make the sacrafice

Are you willing to put your life on the line for the American way of life?

Your thinking-somewhat flawed

Should do a little more research and run for public office

Seems to be too much criticism and a lacking of patriotism and respect for authority

love the people who are blaming obama for not putting his foot down on north korea..

fact is.. this is what.. the 4th time north and south had little skirmishes since what.. the later 1980s..

we are not stupid enough to start ww3 after almost a decade of fighting in iraq and afghan.. especially over some playground bullshit.. plus it isnt up to us.. its up to our mommy Israel

If you weren't being sarcastic, that would mean yours is broke...the person you were responding to was clearly being sarcastic with the Iraq comment. Mine would be broke if you were, somehow, being sarcastic.

Good for those that serve if u read btw the lines-it's the whiners I refer to, of which there are too may

also USMC probably different generation than you-1959-1965 as well as having children in the military this day

Most citizens of this country are totally detached from the impact of this/these wars and continue to lead the secure good life at the expense of those in any public service

As I was taught in the Corps-When the truck is stuck in the mud-get the shovel out and start digging-too many sideliners

Attacking NK wouldnt be like us attacking Iraq or whats going on in Afghanistan it would be ALOT of deaths on both side.
In the end both side would end up pressing the Big Red button and I believe it would end up being a WWIII.

this would not be ww3, China is not going to push the button. i do think china will clamp down on nk before this escalates.

Hey fellas, today in Seoul we had a simulated attack drill. They had fly overs and sirens going off. Schools were evacuated and people sent off to the 'bomb' shelters (which is the subway station). I don't know if we are at war's doorstep or not. But it was an interesting day to say the least.

I don't know why there is all this emotion over North, South, and the President.

It's all posturing on both side. Will it esculate is the question. Who knows, and if history this will be just a burp in the history between all involved.

I got this announcement in my inbox today from the embassy here in Seoul:

"The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens in the Republic of Korea that military training exercises are routinely conducted throughout South Korea throughout the year, to include civil defense drills normally held eight (8) times a year."

I have been here off and on for almost 8 years and I have never had to do 'civil defense drills' at my school before. Something is afoot and the embassy is telling us, "move along, nothing to see here, all is well"...stay tuned this could get interesting.

i would think sk is trying to save face with its citizens, acting like they are ready for anything. China has most likely put a stop to its "step child's " tantrum. nothing mentioned, that i've caught", on cnn. keep us posted.

Like I said before basically North Korea wants to make South Korea part of North Korea like it used to be, when they do it will be names Korea like N and S Vietnam after the war it was just Vietnam, but also like I said before if N and S Korea heat the war that HAS NOT stopped yet since 1953, the United States WILL be at war with China, who helps will be helping North Korea, just remember as we titer on the brink or the Korean war resuming......most of our stuff is made in China......which is ALSO STILL a communist country.

Canada's military obligations in the volatile region are outlined in a briefing note prepared for Defence Minister Peter MacKay shortly after North Korea detonated a nuclear device last year.
The note by the Defence Department's policy branch, which was obtained by The Canadian Press, says the UN alliance could be used to generate an international fighting force if war erupts

...

Because Canada was one of the combatants in the Korean War, it became part of an organization known as the United Nations Command — or UNC — following the 1953 armistice that ended three years of war between North and South Korea.

"According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, North Korea has raised military readiness of its artillery unit along the west coast.
It cited an unidentified South Korean government official who was also quoted as saying some North Korean fighter jets that had been inside the west coast air force hangar had come outside."

South Korea is shooting bombs into the sea and North Korea is pulling all its planes out of the garage. Interesting day.

What worries me about NK is that Kim Il-sung's son recently took his first leadership position and he is expected to show his strength in various ways until he has shown that he is worthy of his new position... ultimately taking over for his father.

The son, Kim Jong-il, is who is responsible for the recent artillery barrage on that SK island that killed the four civilians. He did that within just a few days of assuming his office which pleased the military greatly... he did it as a show of his toughness and that he isn't afraid of the SK military.

I think we're going to be seeing a lot of such postering from NK for the time being until the newness of office has worn off.

At least it appears China is stepping up their talks with NK, not that NK really listens to what China says anymore. I'm thinking China probably figured out a way to convince NK to back down from their earlier announced intentions to attack SK if SK proceeded with their live fire exercises that were darned close to the SK/NK border.

According to Reuters N Korea is backing down and wants to "talk" about nuclear options

wranglerYJnewb, I served too, not during the Korean war, but from 1980-1999 (every little war between 1980 and 1999)

I stumbled across this great resource concerning NKorea messing with the South. Apparently today the Pres. of South Korea said the next act of violence by the Norks to the South would result in war.
