off work for the month of December

hey everyone. We recieved news that the company i work for is shutting down for the month of december. We are furloughed till the 5th of January. I have never before in my life drawn unemployment, or not worked for such a long period of time in my life. I'm not sure what i am gona do. Go nutz i guess. Anyway my job is an airplane manufacturer. I have fun with my job and enjoy working for the company. I can't blame anyone except the darn economy. I hope it gets better soon. The only reason we are shutting down is so we don't get a huge inventory. When we go back to work in January we will be working on new models for 2009.
Here's a pic of the main plane we build. I love this plane ... it rides so smooth.

This one is the SRS that is a new product for 2009. It's less expensive and only a 2 seater. Very nice plane.

This last one we have been working on for a couple of years. This is the one and only one made so far. The Cirrus Jet on its maiden flight. I can't wait to be building this. Hopefully it will be ready for production later in 2009.

Anyway i just wanted to share with you of what i do. And hopefully the economy gets better fast.

Don't go have a bunch of babies so you can collect more money.

Sorry dude. Try to enjoy the time off. Keep your routine schedule and get those small, inexpensive chores done around the house.

Nice pics too!

Hookers and beer....

I feel your pain. I was laid-off at the end of 2005 and spent 1.5 years looking for the right position. I flipped houses to remain liquid and stay sane.

But try the hookers and beer; you'll like it.

Luck on you! We would probably starve to death! Actually, I got laid off several years ago ('01) and promptly changed professions so it wouldn't happen again. I don't make as much money as I did when I was at my previous job, but I know where I'll be tomorrow.

Well heres a little update for you all. Jan 5 I went back to work at cirrus. On Jan 8 they had the 3rd round of perment layoffs. I did not survive this round. However the good news is the very next day i found another job. Not as much money, but atleast im not collecting unemployment. I am now an AC Delco parts person. I think dealing in auto parts is a little more stable then the airplanes i was building, economy wise is what i am thinking anyway. I am feeling a little better about things for right now. At Cirrus i was always pretty worried about getting layed off. Now my worrying has stopped for now.
