Opinions... Mossberg 930

Looking at a Mossberg 930. Black, 7+1, Railed and Heat Shielded.

Anybody have any real world experience with the action and shootability of this weapon?

This would be my first foray outside the world of Remington Shotguns...

I haven't shot a 930, but I had a 935 that was the hardest-kicking gun I've ever shot.

I have a 930 and to be honest, not sure I would do it again. It requires meticulous cleaning and that only lasts about 50 rounds then it doesn't cycle with bird shot, it stove pipes frequently, and it doesn't always cycle with larger loads either. It was great for the first 3-4 hundred rounds and then these problems came up. It looks really cool but not the most reliable shotgun I have ever had. But it may just be my gun, it's going to the gunsmith soon to see if there is a problem.

If you are looking for an excellent shotgun the benelli m4 is similar but it is rather expensive

I would probably look to an FN SLP. Better than the 930, not 2k$ like the M4. I haven't heard any bad about it (or any fabrique in general, really), but I'm not so sure you can find one right now.
