Painted the Dodge

I didn't feel like posting the pics in that "other" thread so I thought I'd post em up here. So here they are. I still have a dent to fix on the passenger side behind the door and 8 holes to fill on the roof. I haven't painted those parts yet but the rest is done with the exception of some wet sanding and good wax job. I don't know why I did this since I'm parting out the truck in the spring but anyways I think it turned out nice considering I used spray cans from Home Depot..... some before, during, and after pics.

Yup. Rustoleum makes a product called Painter's Touch 2X. It is amazing stuff. To do 2 coats on both doors, both fenders and the hood only took four and a half regular sized 12oz spray cans. I have a couple small runs to sand out and a few areas with a little overspray but it isn't anything a bit of wet sanding can't fix.

That looks great, Yote!

I just had to dress my girl back up. She is sad now. She fought me like a 3 year old on the toy isle at Walmart.

Mind taking a close up of the paint job? I'm very impressed and will probably be using this stuff come next summer on my wrangler.

or like a fat kid with a Happy Meal. I have a soft top but it is in such sad shape I don't think it will go back on. I should throw it away and get a new one but I don't want to spend the money on that. I want to spend it on getting "other" parts for the Jeep.

Ya sure. I was in a hurry when I took those last two because we were supposed to be at a friends house for dinner. Tomorrow when the sun is out I'll take a couple close ups and try to avoid my screw ups.

That flatbed looks like it could haul a couple of your Minis. Why are you getting rid of it?

He bought the truck for the 6BT Cummins and (I think) the axles. They are going in the Jeep sitting behind the truck.

The bed is 1ft short of fitting a Mini on it, but I'm going to fix that. I plan on hauling the Mini back from the port in Tacoma to here on the flatbed. Ageless is right though, I bought it for the parts. Cummins 6BT, NP241, Dana 60 front, Dana 70 rear.

Here ya go man.

The driver side fender.

The hood.

The passenger side door. In this one you can see it is a bit rough. That is me not the paint. I didn't have enough light in that area when I was spraying so couldn't tell how much paint was going on and I got it a little thin in that area. That will wet sand out though.

I didnt know if it would or not. Im not a huge wrench turner even though i did do my SOA myself. Would i have a problem with putting the 60 and 70 on there like with power or anything since all ive got is the I6.

Gears, my man. Gears. All you need. I know of a few guys running 40's behind a 4cyl. Granted, they're running 5.38 gears and Atlas TCs, but they don't seem to be lacking for any power, even with the little 4 banger.

Your straight six won't be a problem. If all you did was just swap axles and kept everything else the same including tire size and gear ratios you probably wouldn't notice much of a difference. They are a bit heavier but it doesn't take extra power to turn them. But Cavediver is right it's all in the gearing. It just depends on what tire size you plan on using.

Oh, don't worry about it. We're here for you.
If I remember right the axles are about 8 inches wider(4 inches each side) so they will either have to be narrowed or installed full width and hope the cops don't notice or leave it for offroad use only.

Bck4more...I see your from Missouri...

As a Missouri boy myself...I can tell you, you wont have any issues with the cops in MO for running full widths. (no fender law) but there is a lift law in MO ...and it BLOWS....with your jeep to pass inspection your front bumper can not be over 22'' from the ground. But there are ways around it.....swap to smaller tires for inspection or make a drop down bumper.

Sounds good to me. I have a place where i get inspection done that they dont worry about the height. Is there step by step or something to help me figure the whole swap out like longer brakes or heck i dont know something else im sure

Thanks crazy. Move over here and I'll show you how it's done.

So the past couple of days have been spent wet sanding with 1000 grit. I'm running out of fingerprints. LOL. I've gotten the drivers door, both fenders, and half of the hood sanded. Today after work I will take some pics but they won't look nice because I haven't polished it yet. This evening will be spent trying to fix that dent in the cab and filling the holes on the roof. If it goes well I should be able to paint the rest of the cab tomorrow after work.
