Pellet Poopers how do you smoke and grill

Been looking at buying a pellet grill i have narrowed it down to Green Mountain cant decide between jim bowie or Daniel boon any suggestions fellow smoken jeepers.

on a side note chose gmg over traeger due to gmg has broader temp range so i can do jerky, and the gmg dealer is only 15 miles away vs. nearest traeger dealer at 1 hr 20 min.

I have a Mak 2 star general.

MAK GRILLS, manufacturer of superior wood pellet BBQ grills/smokers – American made pellet grills and pellet smokers for the backyard BBQ and competition BBQ teams looking for ultimate control in a pellet cooker.

Just got it last spring and have used the hell out of it. I ordered the cold smoke box and have cured and smoked my own bacon. Done a few batches of jerky that was great.

It's a little more expensive, but the quality is worth it in my opinion.

Here is another link that you may want to take a look at and read up on the different makes.

Here is a pellet smoking forum.

And if you have any questions, give this place a call. He will ask a lot of questions regarding what you want to do, and will make a recommendation. He is also a champion in some of the BBQ contests you see on TV. He's pretty damn good.

Hope that helps.

I used to have a couple offset firebox smokers and the food was pretty good. However I got tired of getting up at 11:00 at night, starting the fire, keeping it going all night and the next day. Now I set the temperature I want and go to bed and it takes care of it for me.

Leaves me more time to drink beer that way.

Thanks for the input. your just talking out of my league $$$$$$$$$$$ right now............ i really wanted a yoder but same prob. $$$$$$$$$$ i ended up ordering a gmg just because of cost and its got some great ratings my biggest thing was i wanted a smoker to go from 150 to 500 so i can do most anything from deer jerky to pork loin im not concerned with steak sorry dedicated smokers im a firm believer in a charcoaled steak. The other thing i wanted was a stack as i have a exhaust hood in my old shed that i used to grill under and that worked great pendingon what i was doing now i can just have the exhaust stack under the hood and i shouldnt have any problems

thanks again for the great suggestion just outa my league at the moment

I'm with ya on the grill for the steaks! Add to that, I prefer a natural charcoal grill for a ribeye!

Now I'm hungry!

Have you used your GM yet and...we need Q view!
