Pitbull owners (and all around animal lovers, for that matter) UNITE!

just calling all other pitbull owners/representatives for the breed.
I just finished watching a documentary (on netflix) called "Beyond the Myth". It was fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone with an hour and a half and a love for any animal. It dives into the issues on breed specific legislation. I rescued my pitbull at about 5 weeks old and he will be 6 (yrs) this month! wow, how time flies.
Anywho, I cannot say enough about this documentary, it had me almost tear up a few times (I know...I know) if you own a dog, watch this documentary and I challenge you not to do the same.
Needless to say, Gibson has been getting scratched a little more the past few days.
Good luck to all.

can't a brother get a nap around here

in the back seat, on the way to hike!

is someone at the door?!!!!!
well, I have tons more, but thanks for reading and please watch this documentary for your loved ones!

We have two pits and a boxer. All three are the best dogs a person could ever ask for. Watched the movie, so sad. I never met a pit until my girlfriend. I was terrified her " Brewer" was gonna tear up my little boxer " Daizy" nope, they hit it off and are great companions. We rescued another pit that we named " Beefy" she is the biggest hambone youve ever seen!!! Just a big hunka burnin pitbull love. All three are awesome, loyal, playfull, loving dogs that are great with my kids. Its a shame that those dogs have gotten such a bad rap. Its all about the people that own them. I just hate seeing some flat brim punk walkin down the road with a pit on his side with a chain for a leash thinkin hes all badass. Sorry for the rant. Anyway " Brewer" is the blonde pit, "Beefy" is the VERY large black& white pit and " Daizy" is the boxer.

Attacks by pits raised by people who would raise our beloved boxer to do the same. Sorry man, that dont jive with me. There are more " attacks" from labs and retreivers and those little rat dogs than pits. Yeah i know, we always hear about pit attacks. Watch the movie that the O.P. was talkin about. They got a bad rap and its because of jerk off assholes.

I agree that pits do get a bad rap, I have never owned one myself but I have friends and family that have, and all of them have been total sweethearts. My wife and I have 4 dogs, 2 weimers a boxer and a pug. I'll admit that the boxer is the most dangerous dog we have but its only because he is such a lover and his tongue is so big he could possibly lick someone to death.

Well i hate too blame the breed. They do get bad raps. But i have seen more pit bull attacks personally.. Thats not any kind of statistic .. I wouldnt hurt any animal but they are intimidating. And yes Rottweilers are in the same boat. Again im just not a fan. Its kind of like someone like asian food and someone dont. Its all in what u like i guess. They are beautiful animals though

krisbman I agree I think most attacks happen from little rat dogs, obviously they arent as serious but I hate little rat dogs. Got friends with yorkies and chilualuas (spelling) fiests and poodles and theyre just the most aggressive worst mannered dogs... have been attacked several times by them... have friends with boxers and pits and theyve always been nice. Though I love all animals, little dogs SUCK!

I work for the one of the biggest pest controle companies. I'm at about 8 to 10 houses a day and see a lot of dogs. The dogs that are on a small line with the torn and chewed doghouse and no-one has spent any time with the are the ones you can tell will bite. When it's a pit they just seem the meanest.
All of the big dog that are cared for right are real good dogs and I have no fears of being bitten / except (and I don't blame it at all) one customer has a almost completely bind albino great Dane. (so big and beautiful) it can see just enough that if you startle it it will bite you, so I hum while I treat the house.

I have a husky, lab and a boxer. Sweetest dogs I has ever seen. Was terrified of pits, would never go near one, until I went to a couple friends houses who had them and puppy sat one. I believe my next dog will be a pit. There are a ton at the local shelter.

You really have to give them a chance. like others have said about those ankle biters. I WILL NOT own one or be near them. My dad took my little sisters mutt dog and she is the devil spawn.

My wife and I were in the process of adopting an Amstaff 3 years ago but our Landlord/roomate at the time wouldnt sign the form for the SPCA. Now I have a Rat Terrier instead. Sigh. I love my little annoying dog but in 100 years when she passes I will have a pit.

I love all dogs but I prefer Doberman Pinschers, I'm not a breeder but I we like to breed our dog once a year. This is Ahsoka Tano, 3 year old purebred, had her first litter 9 weeks ago. Extremely smart dog, sometimes too much energy for me to expend.
