The parodies of it are what are so great.

My favorite so far-

Mitt Romney Style (Gangnam Style Parody) - YouTube

I would've voted for him if I'd seen this before the election.

I saw that before the election. Funny stuff. What's funniest is all the parodies are better than the original!

One big news story there reported US soldiers that ran over a small Korean girl, but it was considered "operational collateral" so the soldiers could not be tried with vehicular manslaughter. Now, imagine with me that the US is occupied by say....Russia. Can you imagine the outrage that would happen if the same thing happened here? There would be "kill those f***ing Ruskies" all over the place. Also, American artists NEVER wrote lyrics about killing people right?

EDIT: Just found the quote I was looking for:

Quote:
This song, as far as I'm aware, was written after the Yangju highway incident, in which an American military armoured car ran over and killed two Korean schoolgirls on its way to a training ground.
The way the American military presence worked then judicially is that South Korea does not have jurisdiction over American soldiers operating in South Korea while on official duties; police can't even arrest them. This right has been waived to the American military judiciary system.
The South Korean government requested that this case be transferred to the South Korean judicial system since it occurred outside of a military base and in the general public area. This request was denied.
The entire thing got a ton of media exposure in South Korea and brought tensions over the US military presence to a boiling point.
The American court martial acquitted them of negligent homicide for killing the girls and no punishment was given. All of this happened around the time of a presidential election, which only made things worse because of the politicians rabble-rousing.
Things came to a head and massive protests took place throughout the country, many of which led to people firebombing military bases. Ever since then there's been a pretty scathing hatred of the US military presence in South Korea, leading to songs like this. Additionally, this song was a collaboration by a bunch of artists and celebrities, as well as a famous Korean songwriter known for this type of heavily political music.
I'm not saying that any of this makes the lyrics acceptable, but I think it's important that people know the context of the song and the social climate surrounding it. There's a lot of anger pointed towards the US military in Korea.
EDIT: The really f-ed up thing is that after this happened, the American military issued several apologies and I believe officials even visited the families of the two children. The soldiers involved were acquitted regardless.
I don't mean to sound like I'm justifying it, just providing some context. Kind of like how many of the "country" population in the U.S. hold the entire middle east responsible for 9/11...

He's 34? Dont think he would have been an angsty teenager during the Korean War. I dont think this is about whether or not Americans have written a song about killing people. I personally feel it's about respect. I find it ironic that our governent is willing to blame some obscure video for the murder of our ambassador but seems to be ok with inviting someone to the White House that has openly cheered for the killing of our troops.

Just double checked, and I was wrong about that part. See the rest of the comment though.
