Jeeps and Guns

I own a gun store. I also recently started a local FB page for Jeeps with no intention of using the Jeep page as advertising. But a curious thing has become unavoidable; a huge percentage of the jeep pictures or profile pictures of those who joined are showing firearms!

Do these 2 ALWAYS go together or is my sampling merely coincidental?

Probably not too much for the mall crawler scene, but the rugged out door image of Jeeps, and guns/hunting go hand in hand. Probably not dissimilar to 4X4 pickup trucks.

Without knowing how many posters have done so, it is likely spurious.

Guilty here, still trying to come up with the best console mounted holster for my wife's P238.

Arizona

Well, I live in Northern Arizona and as you might know, we can carry concealed even without a permit. So just about every Arizonian carries. So when I get with my Jeep Club every month and about 20-30 of us goes out, I haven't seen one Jeep without one.

A friend and I were discussing the similarities between Jeeps and certain guns, such as AR-15's, or Mossberg 500's and Remington 870's. Basically, they're all good "platforms" to start from. All these things are rugged, functional, and reliable in their stock form. But due to the adaptability of the base platform, they are easily customized and setup to each owners needs and wants. Same thing with my Buell Ulysses motorcycle - I can go from sport touring, to canyon carving, to dirt slinging - just by swapping out luggage and tires.

Plus, let's face it - there's certain demographics or stereotypes around vehicles. You're more likely to find gun ownership among truck and jeep owners, than say Smart cars or Prius owners. It's not that I have anything against those vehicles and their owners, but most of the time, we have differing views on gun ownership.

Jeeps, like guns, are tools for many of us and both fit in to a similar demographic. (They happen to be two of my favorite tools). As mentioned above, both are customizable to suit the needs of the individual. I have fun with Jeeps and guns, and would say they are both hobbies of mine, but each of these serves a distinct and related purpose from a standpoint of fun and protection/mobility. Both give you options when any variety of sticky situations comes up.

I'd say it is the demographics of this type of vehicle.

Plus, a lot of Wrangler owners are often military or LEO's.

Avid shooter here, NV is open carry country.. could get a permit but I really hate asking permission to exercise a right.. and concealed is concealed isn't it?

Most of the land here is BLM so it's free camping and gun friendly.

I do think that many jeep owners try to be self sufficient, and part of that is not expecting someone else to defend you.

All my guns were lost in a boating accident, out in the ocean. Nothing to confiscate here. Actually, my guns are all undocumented (just like a lot of aliens). I should be good to go when that black helicopter lands on my block.

The mall is probably the most likely place you'll need one.

As a quick heads up, if you want to post/see pics...there are already a couple of pretty big threads set up. I may merge this thread with one of those two, especially if pics are going to be posted.

Let's see your guns!

Guns!

It might be too late for you to go back and edit the first post.

What questions do you want in the poll? I can add them in.

(When you start a thread, there options for adding a poll in there).
