Post "The View From My Desk" Photos

What do you spend your time staring at when at work?

I expect to see a LOT of computer monitors, customer service counters, cash registers, and such, but am also expecting to see some open ditches, septic tanks, fry grills, blood pressure monitors, fence lines, telephone poles, police car dashboards, ambulance interiors, and maybe a few machine guns or X-ray charts, too. Here is the view from my desk. (It varies on a daily basis depending on where I am playing or if I am in my repair shop fixing horns.)

Here is another view from "my desk":

And this:

All except the Audi. Top secret no-no when it was here. Now that it has won LeMans, no harm.

I work in acoustical engineering. Typically I do outdoor noise monitoring. Here are some typical places I work:

Surface mining operation:

Larson-Davis 831 -

Often I deploy A-weighted sound level meters that stay out for a week or so:

Sometimes I set up an anemometer:

A FXG plant:

And me being "professional"

I can't take pics at my 'normal' job, but it's a pretty uninspiring office-building. I spend the vast majority of my day staring at network diagrams. HOWEVER, my 'weekend' job is a little more fun!

Here is my view on some days. That pink is from the RR rails cooling off. They are about 1000 degrees F.

Hey! Nice horns. I really like the old Benge. I used to play one, too. Mine was bought new in 1976.

I play tuba in a symphony orchestra for a living. I also have a small instrument repair shop. I teach privately and freelance on my main horn and on upright bass in a jazz trio, as well.

Nice to meet you, man!

My "office" is a Crown Vic. I started doing a series on my Facebook called "View From My Office" of pics taken around the county while I'm at work. Each one was taken from the driver's seat.

From the Northeast of the county a few years ago.

Same spot the day before

Just up the road from there

Pulling into one of our proms this year.

Southwest corner of the county

Northwest corner

View from my actual office a couple years ago, my first year at this school. I don't have one of my current office, but it's very similar.
