Powerlifting/weight training-whose in?

So this is just for us jeepers who like to lift as well, to share information, exercises, stories, whatever you want. This is all spurred because I found a video of me deadlifting 500+ pounds from a year ago, and I am currently starting to workout hard again after a back injury. So heres to motivation!

Powerlifter/bodybuidler here... Love it. I've done a few powerlifting meets, but have yet to do a show/contest.

I can see why you injured your back. Good luck with your future pursuits.

I actually didn't hurt my back lifting, it was actually in football. Completely unrelated

fyi if you don't like my form, its called romanian and its done straight with straight legs on the lowering phase and the bar tight to the legs during the lift, to emphasize lower back strength.

I have also repped 315 for over 30 reps.

I know what a Romanian/stiff leg deadlifts are.

I was referring to your rounded back.

I have watched that about 20 more times, and can't really see anything wrong with it. Form isn't perfect. but alot of people's form gets rough when they are maxing. I have been deadlifting for years and have never had an injury related to it. I suppose you are refering to the flatness of my back during the lift stage? specifically my lower back. because I lift with a narrow footbase I don't have room for my body between my hips, so the only way to get low enough at the knees is to bed slightly more at the lower back.

Not a true body builder or powerlifter here. I'm more in line with the "functional" lifting for playing softball. That's not to say I don't do the "big" lifts, but I aim my training a certain direction.

That said, I love working out. If I go more than day or two between workouts, my wife tells me I need to get one in. When we bought our house several years ago, I sold a ton of stuff I had been collecting and took all the money and bought weight equipment for the house. A couple of years later I built a carport and moved all my weight equipment from our sunroom (converted that to my daughter's playroom) and moved all my stuff into the garage and now have a nice quiet (or loud) place to workout.

I got to the point before we owned our house that I hated going to the gym because it was more of a "meet locker" atmosphere as opposed to a place to get some business done. Since moving, I haven't missed the gym at all.

That sounds pretty sweet man, I wish I had someone to tell me to go workout :P I usually drive myself crazy though if I miss a day even. I would love to have a more completely home gym but I unfortunately don't have the room for one, or the money. I have my mma stuff setup in the garage, and I workout at the local gym where I work part time. gets the job done for me.

And thats fine, basically any kind of lifting can come in here, haha. I lift heavier in off season but I am more of an athletic lifter than a bodybuilder. I enjoy lots of sports and doing other things, and running and all that. pretty much just being active. glad to have ya !
