protecting your gear and rig from break ins

I know a lot of people are in the same boat i am
Soft top jeep
recovery gear and other road help items
My jeep got broken into last night and i lost the gear i needed to install my 3k winch my tow strap my "justin case" roadside assistance bag, my ipod, and at least $ 90 worth of collones

How do you keep your gear safe and not worry about them cutting your top or busting a window?
thank god my top did not get slashed nor did i have a broken window
now im just pissed and at a loss

I asked myself the same question(soft top also). Either put valuables in your glove box or console or even under the seat. Just don't leave anything in open sight. Chances are, if the burglar sees something they want, they'll take it. If the car is empty, then it's not worth breaking into. If you have larger items you want to leave in your car, I suggest that you invest in a Bestop Instatrunk, it's like a safe that covers the open part on your trunk that way your valuables are hidden and locked unless you have a key to the trunk. There are also other safes that go on each side of the bench seats but they are kind of obnoxious looking. Another consideration would be an under-the-seat safe. Another way of prevention would be to install a fake car alarm that is motion sensored and can be switched on and off. If it gets set off, it just makes the normal alarm noise and should scare them off and alert you what just happened. Hope I helped - Wade
