you should try a beagle rescue or maybe even the local pound.

I'm not trying to be a smart-ass here...but why does it have to be 12-13 inches? Just wondering...

well there are two general size beagles there is the 12-13 inch and then there is the 15-16 inch beagle and I really do not want a big dog an I feel that the smaller of the two would be better but if I could get the bigger size at the right price then I will take it

You need to look locally, Donald. I've heard horror stories about people shipping dogs by way to the airlines. If there's a dog park around where you live, you can ask people who have the breed and size you'd like and I think AD's right. There are lots of rescues for specific breeds. Check there. Good luck.

I have looked at the local shelters and I have called the rescue but nobody has puppies they all have older dogs. I would perfer if I found a breeder here in Florida so i can go and look at the dog first.

just be warned, beagles are gluttons... and extremly loud. Mine likes to bark at just about everything. And they are climbers, something about wanting to sit on top of whatever is the tallest to see farther? YOu can catchmine sitting on top of his house all day just starring off into the distance... and sometimes he's in the trees

Puppy mills are a reality and disgusting places. Giving an animal food and shelter does not always mean they're being taken care of.

I "rescued" my male schnauzer from a "breeder" He had sores on his body from being in the "kennel" all the time. He was not house broken, and his ribs and hips stuck out. They were "getting rid" of him because they wanted to breed another color line.
He is the most gentle and sweet dog and has made a wonderful companion for my female schnauzer. I had him neutered and have almost gotten him to stop marking his territory all over the house.

Abused, though I have no knowledge of the particular place you linked, I have been to a puppy mill. They breed and breed, the bloodlines are not clean or far enough apart to keep genetic defects from occuring regularly. Those puppies that are defective, are killed.

The dogs are kept in horrible conditions, often cages piled onto cages. They are not kept clean, they are not kept healthy.

Private breeders, if you must go to a breeder, who keep their dogs like pets, are far better than a puppy mill. Unfortunately, puppy mills don't advertise what they actually are.

Sorry Abused. I have been very active in animal cruelty investigations in the past. They are quite disgusting, for the most part. The main problem I have with any breeder though is the millions of animals that are in shelters all over the nation. There are thousands on animals euthenized daily because of the controlable amount of them being born every single day.

It really is a travesty. It gets me a little emotional, because I have seen and actually been involved with dogs and cats being put down simply because there is no place to keep them and not enough food to feed them. The health care and food alone is a huge expense.

You're opinion is just as valued here as anyone else's my friend. It would boring if we all agreed and had the same experiences.

No one has a more un-informed opinion on most topics than I do.
