Let me start by saying that I am a proud iPhone 3GS owner. However, last night the switch on the side of the iPhone broke. It is now stuck in silent mode. I do believe that Apple has a one year manufacturers warranty and I'm still within my first year of ownership.
My question to you is, who honors this warranty and where should I take it? I know that the best place to take it would be the Apple store but it is a little bit of a drive from me. I purchased my iPhone at Best Buy, and they're a lot closer than the Apple store. I suppose the AT&T store is also an option.
Have any of you guys needed to replace an iPhone? If so where did you take it? I don't want no sh*tty refurbished phone either. I either want a brand-new one, or my current one fixed and given back to me.
Call Best Buy and ask them what to do. I have had phones replaced thru AT&T but that is where I got the phone. As far as the replacement, you'll get a refurb. That's what they do. It'll come with a 90 day warranty most likely, but maybe the remainder of your original warranty. BB will likely tell you to call Apple, they'll send you a box and in a few days you'll receive your replacement.
Well, if they would give you back your old phone, it would probably take a couple of months rather than days. And the one you get might be better than the one you have.... Maybe someone just traded it in for a Droid... If it were me I'd buy insurance on it if you get another one.. For a while anyway... Then if you hate it you can "accidentally" drop it in the lake and get another one...
Apple has great customer service. My iPhone crapped out on me and I got a new one sent to me “next day” and next day where I live is not possible, I thought. If the phone I got was refurbished, I can’t tell. I love Apple products. Best Buy? Not sure how good that will work out. My laptop, which I bought at BB was out for 27 days just to replace the hard drive.
at&t and best but both made me go to the apple store. i had to drive all the way to pittsburgh lol! anyway, i got another phone. it's in better shape than my old 1 cosmetically. those guys are great. they didn't hassle me or anything, and they were quick.
i think you can buy Apple Care insurance through at&t now. i bought my 3gs at best buy last summer and they offered it too. all i've got is the 1 year warranty thst came with it.
i was reading about the iphone hd leak yesterday. it seems pretty cool. all that was said though was some hardware changes. better battery, 2 cameras, 2 mics, hd screen. i just want to run multiple things. maybe some better customizations. all in all though it looks pretty cool.
I'm not doubting you MCC. Just wasn't there when he picked up the phone, and hadn't really given insurance a thought since he got it, but with his knack for dropping them in toilets, rivers, etc... I think I need to look into it
