Well the bottom line is it just cost you $ 100 to realize you've made a poor choice in choosing friends. Kiss your $ 100 good bye and find someone else to hang out with.

Good idea. Now don't go off and sell them a car on the "Easy Wookie Payment Plan".

This argument is ongoing in our house. I guess everyone in my circle of friends worked their butts off to make something of themselves. I personally have worked from age 15, the only breaks were when I was between jobs. I also had 2 jobs while I went to tech school to get my automotive certs so I could improve my existence and not work as a shelf stocker at K-Mart my whole life. Working hard to earn what you get is very satisfying and something to be proud of. I feel alot of (not all) the kid today and even some older adults from other generations want things handed to them like they deserve everything we, hard working adults that have worked 15+ years, have earned. I see quite a few kids (loosely used term not grouping everyone in the younger crowd) hire in at my work place that have no clue what real work is. I even walked in on a conversation about a year ago that involved something like "Man I deserve to have the weekend off, for the 4 months I have worked here I have been on time every day. My bros are throwing a party. I think I am going to call in sick so I can get trashed." I laughed and informed him that my 11 years of seniority didn't give me an option to get holidays off because we are a 24-7-365 service and what made him think he deserved any more with only 4 months of service. The problem I see isn't the newest generation. It is the way our society has put more importance on play and fun over responsibility and need. Every civilization that has placed fun and games in the front line had degraded to extinction and we will not be the exception if we don't put things back in line. Just to clarify, a football/sports player is not a hero and should not be placed on a pedestal within our society. Movies stars act to make money they are nothing more then entertainment for the masses, some do good for America and her people but a bigger percentage of them are people that I personally would not give any of my time to. Until we get our priorities straight and put responsibility, honor, and integrity in front of fun and games we will continue degrade into a slacker nation.

To keep with the origianal poster. I was told something by a respected member of my family.
If you lend money to a friend, it will end your friendship. Before lending any money out get a written contract even with family.

Rant off, I feel better now and am headed to enjoy my hard earned day off with the top down and the doors off

Wow, well said!! I especially agree with the part about athletes and actors, just because we see them, it does not make them role models, in fact, most are good for one thing, examples of how NOT to turn out!
