What's even more surprising to me is that the pod doesn't toss it out. Most "pack" animals don't allow a member to be different like that.

.... poor thing needs sunscreen

You are very correct, I know when we breed our dogs the mother will separate the sick puppies from the healthy ones. We lose at least one a litter. The last one had spinabifida and the roof of its mouth was not fully developed so it couldent drink any milk. I bottle fed it for 3 days before it passed away.

sorry sad but you reminded me of it. Its amazing how they can tell they are sick even right after they are born.

Wasent flipper a pink color?

I don't think he was pink.... but I think he was very pale grey.

Animals don't waste time on offspring that won't survive, survival of the fittest and all. And when say a deer is the wrong color so that it can't blend in, it endangers the entire herd. Seems cruel, but it's really not I guess.

Very true, imagine if we lived by that code. A lot of people we know might not be here. Me and my sister(OC) were real sick babies, now we hardly ever get sick.
