Unhappy Remembering my friend

This is my German Shepard, Zeus. We lost him today. He has been sick for a while and was only eleven years old. Intestinal problems have finally just about crippled him and I hated seeing him in pain. He was just a damn good buddy. Always willing to just sit and listen. Man I miss him.

God speed my friend.

I'm so, so sorry. He looked like a sweet dog. I grew up with shepards, they're the best. My heart goes out to you.

So sorry man. 2 years ago I lost my 11 year old dog too. I understand how hard it can be. He looked like a good buddy. Rest in Peace.

My heart is with you.....may you find comfort in the wonderful memories of your trusted friend

The Rainbow Bridge story
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

Thanks, very touching story, hope it's true. Thanks to everyone. I'll tell you, the house really is empty. I'm used to hearing his tags jingleing as he walks throught the house at night. Kind of let you know he was looking out for you.

Well, gotta be heading home from work. C'ya.

I retired my K-9 in october and he went to live with one of his old handlers and he was hit by a car in november and killed.
dangi he survived 10 years of police work and retired and got hit by a freaking car. I would suggest get you another pup it will help the healing process.

Zues has gone into the great playground for beloved pets. Sorry about your lose. I have a wonderful companion as well, and I know that it will be, a tremendous loss, when she decides to go to that wonderful playground.

I hear you BW but I have a 10 year old mini dachshund which means we are already going to have to do this again in the future. Good thing is they can live 17 to 20 years. I live the sheppards and I also like Great Danes but my dream dog is a Basenji. They don't bark. Only problem is that the mini isn't very social so I don't know how he would react. He is also showing signs of depression, looking for Zeus and stuff. Can't really explain it to him I guess.
Not sure what I'll do.
Basenji

KG4KPG, give your mini extra love and attention. It'll help him and you.

The Basenji looks like a cool dog.
