Oh wow... Man, in that region, throwing a shoe is one of the most significant acts a man can perform to show his disrespect. It's like spitting on him.

In a region riddled with suicide bombings, I rank throwing shoes a little lower on the disrespect scale.

i'm with tiny, not very funny. but President did seem to have good reaction time. however. it would have been funny if he caught the shoe instead of ducking

Well, judging from how he ducked that shoe, I get the feeling that Laura hucks shoes at him all the time.

Actually, culturally speaking, hitting someone with a shoe is all about disrespect and suicide bombings are about martyrdom.

lol in the direction our government is moving, i would not be surprised. Its communism but calling it democracy sort of like eating shit and calling it cake . Its disappointing.

True, but I personally would still rather be hit with a shoe.

Old boy is going to keep a cell warm for awhile.....and not at Gitmo.....someplace secret. Somewhere where Geneva Convention rules do not apply.

He attacked the President of the free world. He'll get what's coming to him.

Try attacking a simple cop and see what happens. Now multiply that by a million. He's going to get the hammer. Secret Service is going to have some fun with this guy. Not necessarily with violence, they'll just have some fun.

I thought the president did an awesome job avoiding the shoe attempts. He can really move! It was kind of like he was saying "Hey, I'm from Texas, is that all that you got sucker?" I really felt he stood his ground well and the whole attempt backfired on the journalist. By remaining calm (and upright despite the secret service guy about to pounce him to the ground) it showed superiority to the issue.

I would have loved if the president ran out from behind the podium and just kicked that guys ass.

I'd like to know why he wasn't dead before he could throw a second shoe.
Major failure of the secret service.

I agree. They were probably as shocked as anyone that some random guy is chucking footwear at our President. Now the Iraqis want him released. Well, my grandfather always told me that you can wish in one hand and $h!t in the other, and see which one fills up faster. He's in OUR custody and will pay his dues. Sorry, Iraq. This one's ours.
