Riddle me this....

1) How long is a piece of string?

2) What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?

3) Which is correct to say, "The yolk of the egg are white," or "The yolk of the egg is white?"

4) Tom and his younger sister were fighting. Their mother was tired of the fighting, and decided to punish them by making them stand on the same piece of newspaper in such a way that they couldn't touch each other.
How did she accomplish this?

5) Which word in the English language becomes shorter when it is lengthened?

6) Where does the 13th man come from?

And don't just google the answers and post em.
Googling is strictly verboten.

Twice as long as when it's folded in half.

How did she accomplish this?
She slid the piece of paper under a door, the children stood on opposit sides of the door

Someone else can have a chance at the rest....

I spent hours a few years ago (before I went back to school and had time to do this kind of stuff) trying to figure out the 13 man illusion. What actually happens is that each one of the original 12 bodies contributes a small piece to the 13th. If you put the two pictures side by side, you will see that none of the bodies look the same in both pictures. Because it is a transitional illusion, your brain remembers what the original bodies look like and does not percieve the difference.

If you concentrate on two bodys during the transition you can see what is going on. Start with the picture of the 12 bodys, watch the lower far left one (A) and the second one from the right in the top row with the black shirt (B). As the transition takes place, you see that B leaves part of his shoes and moves to the left but does not combine with another body part to form a whole body. It becomes complete body by itself. When A transitions to right, his hair is the only thing that moves and it combines with another body. Now look at A. It still looks kinda complete, but if you look close, you'll see that it is not.

If the transition had been complete, B would have combined with A to form a complete body so you would still have 12 bodys. But since the parts of A and B stay seperated, and pieces of other bodies fill in the remainder of each body, it appears that you have two bodies instead of one. Hence 13 bodies.

^^^ Unlimited,

Is that the "13th man" answer?

I don't know about "the 13th man" deal but your example seems logical.

Google didn't help me out when trying to look into it.

I guess there is a picture or video in your first post?

Assuming that's what the red X is that I see.

Perhaps this graphic will help:

A guy I know sent this graphic and explanation to me after I solved the puzzle:

"Basically, the puzzle works by cutting each person in two, taking a small slice of them (1/12 of their height) and passes it over to the right until after 12 people you end up with a whole extra person. Then the creator mixed up the order of the people so that you couldn't see what he did."
