Second Jobs

I really took a big pay cut to accept my job with the VA and I'm pretty much in a position that if I want to give my family a good Christmas I will have to get a second job, even if it is only for the rest of the year. Anyone else work multiple jobs, and what do you do?

I wish I had the time to work a second job. I am at work so much, that it's almost running my life. I'm working even as I type this, technically.

There's not much I wouldn't do for a second job if it meant providing a good time to my family. I guess I am lucky that I make a good bit, but I am killing'em with OT.

As far as I am concerned, you should be one of the highest paid people on the planet!

When I worked at the Pontiac dealer I would work a second job in the slow times, usually just before tax time for about 4 to 5 months. We had no garranteed hourly wage working in the shop so if nothing came in to get repaired we didn't get payed. My choice was department stores working on the loading dock and receiving. Wasn't that bad would get off at around 5 in the afternoon at the shop, get cleaned up and go work to the store until 9 or 10 at night.

I definitely agree with amerijeep firefighters, police officers and teachers should be some of the higher paying jobs out there.

I'm currently looking to pick up a Sat shift somewhere, I used to do 12Volt installs and I miss that, but there arn't many places that want a one day a week guy. I was thinking of somewhere in retail esspecially this time of year everybody is looking for help with the holiday rush coming up.

what's "of sorts"? (just curious)

I worked two jobs up until a few weeks ago, but that has more to do with my lack of focus than money.

Well, I really hate to elaborate. I work on bank equipment... I get to do as much destructing as repairing.

I used to do a lot of side work repairing "personally owned" slot machines. I haven't touched one in a while though. The most recent job I have done on the side is actually a repair job on a pin ball machine. That almost whipped me. Very difficult.

Well, this one puts me at 2 grand. I was gonna hang out and party like it's 1999 for awhile....

Pizza delivery is always my choice for some extra money whan needed. With tips you can usually bring home more that $10 an hour, which is pretty darn good for part time work.

You my friend need to move out to SoCal and be a fireman. Yeah, it's more expensive to live, but the pay is smokin.
