Second vehicle

My fiancé and I have a 99 TJ 4.0 and an 08 Dodge Avenger. The Avenger keeps experience electronic throttle problems. It loses all throttle power and will only travel at idling speed and stays at 2000 RPM's. the first mechanic I went to said he couldn't exactly diagnose the problem and didn't want to start throwing parts at it. Since it doesn't do this all the time I'm figuring ill trade it in. I'm about $1200 upside down in this piece and want to trade it in. I'm thinking a mid size SUV or crossover. We are trying to pay for our Vegas wedding in October and have a give month old baby girl. Does anyone have an opinion on jeep compass or patriots? Any better suggestions for a less than $13000 used SUV that would be reliable and capable offroad for light family camping trails? Any suggestions or input is welcome.

We have owned a Toyota Rav 4 and were very pleased with it. My wife switched to a mini van as we have 2 little boys and our mother in law lives with us so we just needed more room for the 5 of us. They keep their used car value really well too and are very capable. Good luck!

This, or lease a new patriot. That will keep your monthly payments low. Your situation may change in 3 years. Opt to buy or go with something else.

I used to have a 02 crv and loved it. It got 25mpg on the highway and had a ton of room for stuff. You can get those all day for $6-7k and honda 4 cylinders run forever. I rented a patriot a few months ago when i was out of town and was not impressed. Interior was cheap and i did not like the CVT transmission.

So we were able to find a 2010 Nissan pathfinder without increasing the payments. We are real happy with it. Looking to get my rims and tires for the jeep now. So pumped.
