Shop at Sears

I know I needed this reminder since Sears isn't always my first choice. Amazing when you think of how long the war in Iraq has lasted and they haven't withdrawn from their commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?

How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up. Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years. I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on.

Decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent the following e-mail to the Sears Customer Service Department: I received this e-mail and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your company. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item, even if it's cheaper at that store.

This is their answer to my e-mail:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.

Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

I am officially impressed. Sears actually has very good prices, most the times the BEST prices, at least in this area. Looks like I will be buying all of my Christmas gifts from Sears this year.

Everyone is getting Craftsman tools for Christmas this year. I am totally impressed with Sears commitment to its employees. Working at large company myself, It is good to see a large company taking care of their people. You don't see that much anymore.

Are you kidding me? Most places guarantee you nothing other than you being able to have your job back when you return. That is way over and beyond what they are obligated to do. I applaud them for it!!!

Uh, D-man.........you ever been deployed? We go through deployment cycles separated by dwell time in garrison. No one deploys for 2 years at a time anymore. They (our gov't) recently decided on an EXTENSION of 3 months to our regular 12 months, making deployments around 15 months now. And reservists are no different when it comes to deployment schedules. Sears is doing something special for those of us who choose to serve our country. They don't have to do anything more than the minimum, but they choose to support us further, and I, for one, am grateful for that...

Don't want to kick sand in your face, just wanted to enlighten you a bit...

If its an independently owned store, not like a national store at a mall, the rules are different.

no offence bruins, but you need to look into stuff a little more carefully before you start sayin stuff like that. I for one am very very impressed with what they are doing. like most on this thread say not very many companys are doing anything for their reserve employees except holding their jobs till they get back. sears has my business just for this. and as always THANK YOU SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN!
