The Judge 410/45. The 410 shell blast lets you hurry up and take your time with the 45 slug.

I lived from the east coast to the west coast of canada and i never met anyone yet who even owes a hand gun i find it really strange that you lads are all talking about packing heat. your making me kinda nervous to visit the states. with that being said theres a guy at my work who is trying to make a silencer for his hunting rifle. I told him he is going to kill himself but he says he is going to tie a long rope to the trigger for the test. Im going to try to get some pictures of this thing for you tomorrow cause he asked me to put some slots in it for him on the milling machine and i will find out what rifle he is using. He had 4 tours to afganistan and hes a little off his rocker.

You Canadians are a strange lot! My cousin was a top police inspector in some backwater Canadian town, I think it was Toronto, and he was shocked that I was allowed to own semi-automatic pistols and assault rifles. He said that in his entire career, he's only brought his weapon home a couple of times when it was inconvenient for him to return it to work.

When he and his family visited us a few years back, after listening to him preach the anti-gun in private hands spiel, we went out and shot up over 1000 rounds of handgun ammo and he said it was a blast. Yep, you Canadians are really strange.

You would love my job
Yesterday a man came in to test his AR-15.
My boss comes by and yells "LIVEFIRE!"
Everyone grabbed their ears and they let off 20 rounds and left.
Just another day at the office...

I heard the French-Canadians had a special sort of handgun up there. When you pull the trigger, a white flag pops out!

Seriously, it's not the LEGAL gun owners you need to worry about. If you look at percentages, folks with carry permits commit less crimes than just about any group. We've all had background checks and are clean as a whistle. We just believe in protecting ourselves and the ones we care about. Any criminal can buy a gun on the street, here or in any other country. Those folks are the reason we carry.

Because when seconds matter, the police are just minutes away.

I was just talking to my B-I-L about guns. Amazing.....remembering back to my high school days. During deer season not uncommon for me to have my .30-.30 hanging in my pickup gun rack on the high school main parking lot. Nobody thought anything about it! How crazy would that be today?

I carry a 1911 .45ACP just about everywhere I go.
A .380 is better than a sharp stick but certainly isn't ideal. Especially if you consider the original question of the thread.
If you're out Jeeping in the countryside and feel the need for a firearm a larger caliber would be better, cuz if you shoot a bear or cougar with a .380 and it finds out about it, it's gonna be pissed.

You might be alright with a cougar if you have a .45. If it's a bear, not so much. Like my pappy said when we ran across one, "don't shoot that thing, you'll just make him mad"

.454 maybe, but I'd rather have a rifle in that case.

im a big fan of .380's if you're wearing mesh type gym shorts around town cuz those things are so light and tiny you could put em inside your sock and no one would know it was there haha

I've got a S&W Mod 500, .50 cal, but I'd rather carry a 60 lb backpack, than lug that pistol-anywhere !!

Meh, walking through grizzly country I'd definitely go with something larger than a .45. The most likely bear you're likely to have an encounter with in the lower 48 is a black bear and a .45 using ball ammo will easily punch through the skull and scramble the brains of a black bear at close range.

.357 and .50AE
They aren't mine, they belong to a friend I go shooting with regularly.

I have a pistol with me any time I'm in the Jeep....or anywhere else. I'm not concerned with 4 legged critters. the ones native here are afraid of humans. I'm more concerned w/ 2 legged variety

9mm or 38special +p is the caliber of choice for me. Product placement is everything, and I'm confident in my abilities with the guns I carry under stress.

Most recent purchase was a Kahr CW9 - fantastic little pistol. I have nothing but compliments for it...no feeding issues or jams, accuracy is rather impressive for a gun of its size, and its size is perfect for me to carry and shoot.

The operative words there are "at close range". Don't know how close "close enough" is, and don't want to find out the hard way. A Grizzly can be easier to elude than a black bear, too. Blacks can climb, grizzlies can't.

Note: this is something I've read that I would rather not test in person. I've also read that they CAN.
