Wait til you get a shot in the nuggets.....now that's fun. I used to systematically throat-shoot people who wouldn't wear their PPE. It's nice to play with tiny paint rounds in a sniper weapon.

ya I love sim training! I got one of the neck rounds before went right past my frickin neck guard! lucky bastard... but I got him back the next round right on the inner thigh I did DT's today and I tell you, with the ammount of people who don't know what the fuck they are doing I'm suprised that more of them don't get either killed or seriously hurt on the job... 2 more weeks to go then back to the jail! I'm ready to be done with all this classroom BS. Be safe out there guys!

I went in with just a t-shirt jeans, plastic "vest" and helmet with the neck guard.

Did my Sim training for Federal last fall - it is awesome. Got shot on the thigh once and left a welt the size of a baseball!

Sims training does rock! We did ours in an old nut house. One of the hallways used to be the juvenile ward and the old painted forest scenes that were peeling off the walls made it FREAKY! That and the fact that we were doing it at night... not sure whose bright idea that was but you guys are right, you definitely learn the difference between cover and concealment REALLY quick when the sim rounds start flying!

hell ya! I'm on my last week here at the state acad. we have con sim tomorrow and tuesday all day. I'm excited, however most of the guys/gals in my class are from DOC (department of corrections) not a sheriffs office. so I don't think we are using sim guns, kinda dissapointed in the training here. we have some of the best training nationwide at my SO, from what I'm told. ready to get back into the action at home.

Good luck with the training, it sounds like you enjoy most of it, anyway. By the way, where are you from in Oregon? I lived in Seaside/Astoria for two summers. Not trying to hijack this thread. Continue....

jeepcop, we take 350fps airsoft rifles, couple M4s / mp5s etc. and play CQB in old abandoned buildings. Most the times they are old mental institutions. You are right, at night some of those places can be pretty freaky. One time, at an old TB hospital that was turned into a mental institution and abandoned for about 40 years, we followed a team into the basement to wipe em out. We ended up finding a room full of Department of Defense survival cans. Like 55 gallon drums, some for fresh water, some full of gear. weird shiet. It was hidden in a room with a 6in thick solid steel door, and a random chair sitting in the middle of this tiny room.

training today sucked its really really boring. they really dumb down the con sim. 20% force and its really too easy. nothing like what were going to do in reality.

Im in hillsboro about 15 min west of portland.

ya... our's do too but its really a weak scenario training. my county really gives a great training program I've realized. DOC IA? I don't know what that is... I really wish that we got better training for our SIM stuff but I guess what can you do for 5 weeks of state training. just kinda feel bad for the DOC personel which this is the main source of their training and knowledge.

OH OK that makes sense. I just didn't put two and two together.

and yes our in service uses sim rounds with a ton of senerios and "box" drills. I'm just down here at the state acad. I work for one of the best trained S.O.'s in the nation.
