It does but can take awhile to move on. Do yourself s favor, take some time to get things straight and ( from experience) don't jump back into marriage for awhile. Takes time to work through stuff, and even more time to see yourself as something more than just dad.

My ex had an online affair then when we got divorced, she moved over 1000 mile away from the kids to be with her new husband. Saw the kids 3 times a year and I never really had to see him.

Important thing to remember in a distance situation like mine. Whoever has the kids when they are in high school will have them in their day to day life forever because the kids get settled into an area and usually don't leave. My kids lived with me for 8 years and we have a great relationship, but the kids live by mom after graduating because that's where their friends are and what they know, even if it was just for 3 years. I had hoped one of them would have made the choice to come back by me or in with me but no. They love to talk on the phone and visit, but honestly, out of sight, out of mind.

I've been the guy in the car in two different relationships. It took my daughter's father years to recognize I wasn't trying to replace him. I'm not saying that's what you're thinking. Just mentioning I've been on the other side.

So I just stumbled on this thread. I'm split up and in process of divorce. Nice to know this is here, may learn something.

Yes, But IMHO there is no reason for him to be there. Plus, it's not like she met this guy after we were divorced. This is the guy she was "Seeing" While we were still married and the whole reason we got divorced. And, if I were to ever bring up how it makes me feel uncomfortable that he is there, she will just make an excuse...it's how she is....it's ALL about her and that's it.

I have been reading this thread a lot lately. My ex and i broke up and she took my daughter with her cause she said i dot have time for her. I work 50-55 hrs a week and volunteer as a firefighter but when i have my daughter i stop everything to spend as much time with her as i can. When she took her and moved back to her parents i started to drink a lot and was heading down a bad street till my parents stepped in and have been helping me out. Now i get her every friday till saturday night. But i cant stand when she will bring random guys around our daughter cause they will get to see my own child more than i will. I guess its a good thing i found this post a lot of helpful stuff on here thanks guys.

Just got my boy here. Pretty excited, i met him halfway and he followed me down the interstate. Was really cool looking in the side-views and seeing him in his little A4 quattro right behind me the whole time, 100 miles, no hiccups. Woot woot!!!

I have got to have him get his license and find a cheap car. I'm getting tired of no weekends so I can drop him off, wait, pick him up. Lol

My Ex and I separated when my son was 2 and for the past 15 years I have made every effort and quite a few sacrifices to be a part of his life. In all that time there haven't been many times I haven't seen him twice a week and every other weekend (mostly due to working off shifts). When he was in pee-wee football I picked him up after work and took him to every practice and was there for every game. I'm fortunate that me and my ex actually get along... as long as we aren't living under the same roof.

This past weekend we both took my son to attend the UNOH open house so he could preregister and to get a look at the school... with only one more year of high school nest year, now is the time to decide if this is what he wants, instead of half way through his first semester.

I have the utmost respect for single parents who do it all on their own, full time... its hard enough on the weekends.

Welcome Steve. Dads deserve credit too.

Sounds like a rough road.
