So Cal Jeep theft ring busted!

Long Beach police break up auto theft ring that targeted Jeeps.

Now, if they would just punish them appropriately.

I can't believe they only set the guy's bail at $50k. That's less than the value of two Jeeps!

Jerry - there's a number to call if you've had a Jeep stolen.

Wow, I'm glad they caught the leader. I had no idea about this.

I hope they hang em. Problem is they will all be back on the streets again too soon because our justice system is a fricken joke.

Targeting Rubicons. Yet another good example of why removing the RUBICON stickers from your hood is a good idea. If I ever purchase a Rubicon (hopefully I'll add one to the fleet), the first mod I'll do to it will be to remove the hood stickers. Then I'll pull the ugly rocker guards off too.

Kate, you might PM Jerry. I don't know how often he peruses the OT section of the forum.

No kidding!

I have a friend who is a police officer out here in the Jackson area. He is on a special task force for stolen vehicles. He was telling me that there is a group that counterfeits titles and VIN numbers, and that they are quite good at it.

I asked him "Let's say you buy a used vehicle, how will you know for sure that it's legit?"

He suggested to check ALL of the vin numbers on the vehicle, including those on the frame for your own protection.
