So I was banned by Jeepforum

Just as the title says I was banned by Jeepforum. I'am not a troll, I had been a paying member for since april and recently upgraded to become a "lifetime" member at a cost of $100. I had in excess of 1400 posts, I don't mean this to be an indication of my knowledge as I'm admittedly somewhat of a newb into the Jeep world. I have only had my Jeep for one year now. However if I were a troll I would have been banned long before I had achieved such a post count and not enjoyed the longevity I did on JF.

Why was I banned, hmm, because I got tired of the mods and admin constantly deleting or editing threads and made my feelings clear, without the use of profanity. I stated my opinions in a thread in general discussion, this post was IMMEDIATLY deleted by admin (Keith). And I was told to "knock it off" and not make any drama. Drama was not the intent of the thread, I was merely outlining the reasons that prompted me to choose to depart JF. I also wanted to make some of the friends I had made on JF aware of my departure.

Due to the deletion of this thread I began pming my friends and informing them of my departure. I also inquired if any of them would like to purchase my lifetime membership which I was selling for either $50-$75. All inquired as to why I was leaving and a few tried to convince me to stay. However the majority of my friends shared similar sentiments to myself on the rather recent negative changes that have been occuring on JF. Several of my friends had said due to the recent changes and the way the mods had delt with them or the way they handled deleting or modifying threads. The fact that certain members of JF seem to act with impunity while others are quickly reprimanded for nothing is raising the ire of many of the supporting JF members. As I was pming my friends discussing the current Nazi like environment on JF my account was locked out and I'm assuming that means I was banned.

Apparently no dissent on JF is allowed. Hence my belief that JF has become Nazi like, and the amusing thing is that I was not the only member to use those words in describing the environment on JF. When a moderator deletes or edits a post you cannot ask him why, if so he will typically give an abrubt answer and lock the thread. I think the power the moderators percieve they have has gone to some of their heads. If the current trend on JF continues I suspect there will be a small exodous of some of the core supporters of JF. Will it hurt JF, maybe, maybe not. I will tell you prior to this whole affair I preached to everyone I knew about JF. JF is a great rescource to learn, and there are a great many kind and helpful people on that forum that helped me to learn about my Jeep. Unfortunatly if Keith doesn't reign in some of his mods I believe some of the JF supporters will seek greener pastures, just as I have done. In my speaking to some of my friends on JF more then a few expressed that they would not be renewing their subscription/support for JF and a couple had said they were entertaining the thought of upgrading to a lifetime membership but recent events and how they were handled by the mods/admin had swayed their decision to hold off on the upgrade.

My apologies for the rant, just needed someplace to vent. Rest assured that I'm not a troll, you shall see. Perhaps some of you know me from JF already, my SN was the same as it is here and you will see my posts were helpful, (at least this is what I was told by other members) and courteous. Perhaps a few more members of JF will decide to join my on this forum, not sure yet. We were discussing alternatives in PM when my account was locked out.

To the mods and admin of JF I would just like to give a big

Sig Hail (sp?) I believe that is probably the official moderator and admin slogan/greeting.

I have seen you over on JF. I participated over there quite a bit for awhile and still post out there occasionally, I have seen some of the things you speak about. I can tell you that in this forum the administrators are very fair and have a great since of humor to all things that we post. You won't have those same problems here.

another form too, that doesnt delete much is jeeps-offroad.com...they are usually pretty good at not deleting a thread unless it really gets outa control

well like i said, i have yet to see anything deleted on this forum so i dont think u have much to worry about here

Not really. Go to pirate and do the same. You will end up right here. There are plenty of places to participate. I'm not taking sides because I've seen the way you helped out and were polite about it. There are specific rules set by each web forum for specific reasons.

These are their rules.

- Swearing, flaming, slamming and spamming will not be tolerated. Posts that do not fall within the guidelines of this site will either be edited for content or will be deleted all-together. This is your only warning. Repeat offenders will find their login-id's and IP addresses banned from using JeepForums.com.

You were warned and still persisted. So I don't see the problem??

I posted in the same "Rubicon trail" thread as you and my post was deleted for no apparent reason. I said nothing inflamatory. It was in regards to the smartas comment mrblaine made, he is one of the members on JF who can act with impunity as he is friends with igofshn and Jerry. I guess he is above the law. Anyways I wasn't fond of my post being deleted when I had done nothing wrong. But since mrblaine apparently has immunity on JF my post was deleted. I merely pointed out that since mrblaine "is one half of the stuff in tough stuff products he might want to be more courteous, if he doesn't people may decide they won't do business with him" Or something to that effect but it was not harsh or profane, but it was deleted. Well I will stick around here and get a feel for the environment.

Here is the thing Mr. Clifford, I did not swear, flame, slam or spam anyone. Yet I was banned. After I was "warned" I ceased posting in the forum. As I stated I was pming several of my friends and informing them of my departure and what had been the cataylist. Several of my friends began I dialogue with me and echoed my very sentiments as I have already said. When I was replying to a pm my account was locked. So there is where the problem lies, I was banned because I was pming my friends. Like I said I feel JF is rather Nazi like. Perhaps the message traffic is not secure over there. Kind of a "big brother is watching" environment if you can't even pm in private on JF.

Lesson learned I guess. I always talk smack about the forums off the forums. Most of my jeep friends aren't on the forums but for those that are we usually get a kick out of the stupid stuff. IE... the politics of JF

Sorry to hear about that. I hang out on a few other forums and have seen what you mention. Thus, I hope you find WF to be a good place to stop by. That and the admins are an okay bunch of folks.

Sarge (USMARINELJ, at least I think that's your rate), I think the issue was that most folks don't know that Blane was part of the ToughStuff enterprise. That's business and the post was personal. I suspect that's why it was deleted. Specially when the "me toos" started in.

Admitedly, I didn't think his post was cool but I live by what Mama told me. Don't have nothing nice to say then don't say it. I'm not always true to that, sometimes I just can't help myself but I try

I didn't care for JF myself, there are a few people over there that know their stuff but it didn't seem like a real tech board more of a bs board. Pirate is a great site for tech and they seem fairly helpful on good questions but those newbie questions go down in flames.

So far WF seems well balanced and besides there are tons of forums out there you just have to move around till you find the ones that fit you.

I wasn't gpoing to mention the non-Jeep owner. just what does he drive anyway?

This is a great forum, to be serious, and the Admin are great guys. khenderson is a personal hero of mine. Hopefully, when my Jeep grows up, it will be just like his.

To my knowledge, there has never been any issues on this Wrangler Forum.... except we have to get 4Jeepn back into the green every now and then.

Thanks for the words everyone. I believe this will be my second home for Jeep info. I really like it and everyone seems to rather friendly. I really like what the admin has done in supporting the Toys for Tots program as that is a program that is near and dear to my heart as an active duty Marine. I have helped that program on a couple different occasions. As I'm typing this I see a banner for helping the hurrincane relief victims, this is a nice gesture as well and to me it speaks volumes as to the kind of people the mods and admin are on this forum. I will contribute when I can and hope to continue learning from the knowledgable people here.

Whats going on Gerg? Your name looks familier. Well in regards to toughstuff, it was in his sig so I don't think he was keeping it a secret. I think if he wanted to keep his association from toughstuff seperate from his personal interactions he shouldn't have put such a blatent association as his sig. Personally I will not conduct business or make further purchases from a person once he has demonstrated he is a jerk. I was just trying to point out what I perceived as an error in judgement on his part. Just my two cents.

U.S.MarineLJ,

I saw the Rubicon post and I agree with what you said about mrblaine. It sucks that you won't be posting anymore on JF... I plan on checking in here more myself. This looks like it's gonna be a good site.

wow marine, i can't believe they actually did that to you. weren't you one of the first lifetime members? i'v put down a few of their mods and came out just fine but then again i made them feel like they would get banned so it wasn't too hard. i do agree with you that JF is becoming very unpleasing. i've been coming here and trying to be like it "was" over there and its starting to become that way, this site is 100% better than JF and its all because of they way people are (mods/admin). its like they are too part of the community, unlike JF where they tend to think they are better than everyone else. Now don't get me wrong, there are a few good ones, take jerry for example, i'v never really seen him act like any of the other mods, and by the way its good to have him here as well. good to see fellow JF peeps coming here.
