Spare tires question

I'm new at this trail thing and still waiting on my jeep to get painted. But I have a question and it may be a dumb one. Why on all the videos and pics of the trail rides are no one carrying there spare tires? Is it a weight thing? I would assume if your taking trails you would want that with you.

I'm taking a stab at this but I believe it is because with certain trails or rock crawling, the tire would "drag" based on a steep angle that the rig might be in. With removing the spare, it eliminates the tire catching on anything. That would be my guess.

Some carry theirs inside. I ALWAYS run a spare! My carrier has a high relief angle. Some guys don't because they have this belief "it won't happen to me" complex. Eventually if you wheel enough you will pop a bead, slice a sidewall etc. We've come up on guys that don't carry one then when they get a flat and they either have to stop an try and fix it or they're begging for a spare... Leaving someone that came prepared without a spare. And stopping trail progress because an easy fix was made difficult because of a personal decision.
GO PREPARED OR STAY HOME!
