Story of first time you saw your wrangler

I pulled into the lowes parking lot ( where I was meeting the guy) and it was pouring. I found it easily as it towered over all vehicles there. I stared at it mesmorized and just admired it we talked and talked and I took it for a spin it was beautiful. My first time driving a wrangler and I fell in love!

I found out that I was approved and walked out into the lot full of Wranglers. I stopped at the first one I came to and said "I'll take it". No radio, no speakers, no antenna and just a 4 banger, but I was in love. Lately it's been love/hate relationship though...LoL!

I went to her house as the sun set, and it was love at first sight. Those sexy rust holes exposing some flesh like a halter top, sitting in the grass, cause shes too cool for driveways. She had her hair down, showing her beautiful light top against her dark body. So I asked the owners permission, then took a quick peek under her skirt (to make sure I wouldn't find a surprise!), mounted her and made sure she knew how to move.

So then I paid him every penny I could, 100$ less than asking, and he drove it to my house for me. Whole deal? About 20 minutes. Now we run, play, jump, coast, and splash around together, everyday. We are happy together, and she still smiles when I touch her just right, and I still smile when I see her.

And that, friends, is the story of how my Jeep and I met. Lmfao.

Here was the ad photo on Craigs List back in 2003:

They had to do a dealership trade to get me mine.
So the night before I was going to pick it up at the dealership, after I got off work (about 11pm) I drove by the dealership and saw it sitting in the parking lot. I would have gotten out to get a closer look but there were cops there too so I smiled and drove by.

When I saw mine I was working at the dealership that had it.It was a Jeep someone had traded in & it was going to go to a wholesaler and most likely to a scrapyard since the frame was rotted.I just had to save her!!!

I drove past mine, she was on the corner of the dealer lot. I looked at my wife and told her I wanted to go take a look, dropped her and the kids off at home and drove back up, looked at it, test drove, had the wife come take a look and bought her the next day. We have been in love ever since......the wife too.

Mine is kind of odd. No Jeep dealership within 200 miles had what I was looking for (new or less than three years old, Sport, stick, soft top, A/C, and relatively basic). Every Sport the dealerships had was either auto or had a lot of extras added on that I didn't need or wasn't willing to pay for. I was getting towards crunch time because I was moving two days after Christmas (this was around the 19th), and was going to be towing a trailer with my new purchase. I found two that matched what I wanted: a 2007 Silver Sahara with 35,000 miles at a BMW dealership, and a 2011 red Sport with 13,000 miles at a Ford dealership. I test drove them both and liked them both, and they were about equal in price. The only thing that worried me about the Sahara was that the dealership had sprayed some kind of heavy air freshener that was covering up the smell of cigarette smoke. I went into the Ford dealership the next day after test driving the Sport, gave them my offer, they accepted, and I walked out of there with my new Jeep rather quickly. From the first time I drove it, I knew that it was exactly what I wanted, and I haven't regretted my decision one bit.

The Ebay ad said "2008 Wrangler X Unlimited, Yellow, 106K miles, $1.00 start NO RESERVE, please read ad."

Ad said- "Engine has knock, sounds like top end but needs a mechanic, do not plan on driving it home. Soft top has damage, will need replacement."

After finding out his arrival by checking with IAMJEEP, I drove down to the railyard where they unload the new vehicles to be trucked to dealerships here. And there he was, all by his lonesome, across the yard. He looked a bit forlorn and dusty from the trip, but when I saw him up close at the dealer the next day he looked perfect. I'll never forget my reaction at the railyard- "Sh*t. I just bought a Jeep!"

Two kids broke down in front of my work one night on Night crew. They knocked on the door and asked for a jump start. I checked the alternator for them and i told them to replace it. I told the kid I would be interested in buying it. He went and told the owner, two hundred bucks later, she was all mine! Thousands later and she's almost done being rebuilt!

Saw it listed on Autotrader for nearly $250k. Decided that it was obviously a misprint and trucked down to the Jeep dealer with the wife anyways. I was set on NOT getting all of the 'bells & whistles' & tried to steer my wife towards another model, but she insisted (it doesn't hurt that green is one of her favorite colors).

Had a laugh with the sales dude about the misprint in the online price, worked up a pretty decent deal, and drove it home.

Here she is sitting on the dealer lot:

...and about 40k miles later:

I went to the Detroit auto show and when I saw the 10th Anniversary the first time I thought it was a concept type display vehicle. I loved it. Then I found out they were actually going to build it! Prior to seeing it, I had no real desire to own a JK. Nothing wrong with them really, they just hadn't come out with anything that caught my attention.

The day I flew home I did some research on them. Not a whole lot of info to be had at the time but I liked what I saw. The next day I went to the dealership and ordered one. They didn't even know what I was talking about at first lol.

Almost five thousand miles later I'm still happy as can be with it.

Our story is a common one. We had ridden in a '12 and appreciated the 'taming' and 'comforts'.
But the affair started with a 2 door Sport rental in Ouray. Even with worn out tires and a noob driver it kept up with the Rubicon and gave us a great time. How do you spell hooked?

There was a year-end clearance ad with a nice discount. It would save us a trip to Idaho. But, I wanted to play hard-to-get. Then, in January, the ad was still there! Was this the one?

Took the stock number to the dealership and there she was! The color was not what I thought I wanted, but looked gorgeous! I had to play casual with the dealer, but I was hooked.
They squirmed about the discount, but gave it anyway. They hadn't moved a Wrangler in weeks.

Now we already have history, scratches on the armor, scenes enjoyed, good mud.

Like the infatuation with the little rental, there is no going back.
