Story of My Jeep

Just wondering if your jeep spoke to you like mine spoke to me...

there i was buying my dream vehicle, I had a choice between a trail rated 2004 v6 6 speed with lift 46,000 odo and an all stock 2001 5speed 69,000 odo... I looked at the older jeep and it just kept saying "dude i might be stock and not trail rated but ill never let you down" the older jeep had been at the lot alot longer so i couldnt let him down, it was like the ugly puppy at the pound that no one would pay attention to.

I know i made the right choice

lets hear your jeep story

Trail rating is a sales gimmick developed by Chrysler, and put into effect in 2004 to help sell more Jeeps. The badge doesn't make it any different from your '01.... just sayin'. Glad you're loving your '01, I love mine too. Just don't feel she's inferior in some way because she doesn't have a badge....

'01 Wrangler Sport, Sienna Pearl Mine
'07 Rubicon 2D, Flame Red His
'11 Wrangler Sport 4D, Black Ours...

Badges? What badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges.

MINE SPOKE TO ME! I went about 9 years in between letting my first TJ go (for the dreaded minivan ick) and getting my second TJ. I looked for over a year and test-drove countless jeeps. The others all had their perks/flaws, but none had the soul connection of the LAST ONE I TEST DROVE. I only drove her 1/2 mile, came back, and the check was written.

Firm believer that when you drive the right one, she will let you know.

When I found my 02 Sahara at the local dealership after looking all over the state, it was parked on the grass out in front of all the JK's. It was like it was saying "I am way better than the youngings behind me, I am mature and have been around the block , I only have 72k on me and I am just getting broke in, come take me for a ride and you will not regret it.....40 minute ride later I was asking for a purchase order....

Didn't know to look for the d44 rear end at the time, but once I starting reading this forum I had to go check and it didn't let me down. Seems I got pretty lucky getting a d44 instead of the d35. Also lucked out in the rust dept, it came from GA and had only spent a couple of winters in Maine. No sign of the normal rust issues that most New England tj's tend to have.

Just glad I listend to what the Jeep was saying
"Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted"- John Lennon

"The Jeep is a manly device. And a womanly device. An American device. It’s a fitting instrument to transport the free people of a free nation with the respect to which we are entitled and the dignity that we deserve. Okay, we’re a little crazy to have a Jeep for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius"-P.J.O'rourke
