Had a contract worker shaking bags of paper onto a conveyor into the recycle dumpster. A .380 Semi-auto fell and discharged a round into the ceiling. Thank God that's where it hit. Security officer in that area radioed me. Check on situation found that the worker had enough calm to hit the shutdown on the conveyor. Pistol was still on the conveyor belt. Officer and worker knew nothing about firearms. Took cell photo of pistol for report and then made the weapon safe. Both looked like deer in the headlights when I dropped the magazine, then pulled the slide and the next round came dropping out. Since there was no slide catch I slipped my ink pen inside to further show the weapon as cleared.

NOTE: officer who is afraid of weapons is now firearms (revolver only) qualified. That in all honesty scares the fool out of me. I'm glad the officer is no longer assigned to me. However the officer is in my opinion a liability to the company and the public.

BTW-I did voice my concerns to the company.

Last words before I click "submit". Many security officers are mature and serious about their jobs. Many, like the officer mentioned here have no business being in this business.

I've been a cop for 11.5 years. 5 years on a SWAT team, and the last 6 on a special projects unit (primarily drug and alcohol enforcement).

Yeah - I've had a few weird things happen at work.

A lot of them, most people would think I was lying if I told them. The remaining people would be offended. :incog:

My ex worked for the City of Baltimore central garage. Had a cop come in complaining of a screwed up transmission. He forgot to mention he shot it while sitting in the car messing with his gun:hysterical:
