Supporting our troops magazine drive.

I have talked with the rest of the staff and they gave me a green light to work on a project for our deployed troops.

What I want to do is for members of the forum to ship or forward in some way all there old jeep or 4 wheel type magazines to a central location for sorting. There wf can ship the mags to our deployed troops. I'd like to include a label or something on the mags that are simply "Courtesy of wranglerforum.com" or something like that.

Does anyone have a friend or family member that is currently deployed that we could use as a receive point? I think we could go with several different troops to ship to.

If you have magazines you wish to donate, please ship them to me at:

J L Lamb
153 Beverly Drive
Vicksburg, MS 39180

Please PM me or post here for any input and or ideas.

This is a community project for wrangler forum. I'd like as many members as possible to participate.

I'm only inside for a sec, so this is fast but I'd love to participate. I'm a magazine junkie and though I don't keep them, I will if I've someone to give them to.

I think this is a great idea, Amerijeep.
We don't have many jeep/4-wheel mags but we can certainly sort out some to share with our deployed troupes.

I like the idea, and would be willing to ship my old mags to someone for this effort.

I've got quite a few of 4x4 mags as well as various car mags (hotrod, carcraft, ect.). I'll box them up and ship them out later this week.

I'm on it, I've got a bunch, and unfortunately just dumped a bunch of mags, but I've got a decent sized box I can send over

If it's ok, I've also got some video clips I've edited, I can burn some dvd's and toss them in the box as well

I'll be glad to send some your way...about 10 years worth!!!
I looked for an outlet to do this about 10 months ago, but had no luck. Give me a few days and I'll see about shipping them out.

Thanks for helping OUR troops!!!

Those of us at J Rations would be very happy to supply some magazines.

Please let me know how many copies would help the cause. And thank you for putting this together, amerijeep and wf!

That is a wonderful idea, I don't know if I have any but I will try to round some up. How long are you going to be taking the mags? That way I can try to scrounge up some from other people to send to you.

That is fantastic of you! I will happily credit J Rations for helping with the magazine drive.

I really am unsure of any numbers, but I would be grateful for what you are willing to share with the deployed.

I've already put my own issues of J Rations in the collection box, and I hate to part with them, but it is for a good cause.

Ok. I'm getting some good questions from members via PMs.

The main question is "What time frame are we looking at?". I can only say that I'd like to keep it going as long as possible. That way we can disperse as much as possible to as many of the deployed as possible.

Another good question is "Who are we shipping to?". Right now, I have several good leads on who we will be shipping to. Including, at least one deployed wranglerforum.com member.

The other most asked question is "What can I do to help?". Right now, we just need your old Jeep and 4 magazines. I haven't gotten to the point of shipping and have no idea what the cost is going to be. They'll get shipped, even if I'm paying for it myself, so I am standing by on that. I wouldn't want to take any money donations and not have anything to ship.

Thanks everyone.

Reminder: you can ship your old magazines to me at K Henderson is accepting magazines to ship. He's in a good location for a great number of the membership. Ship to Kyle at:

Kyle Henderson
3870 W. Golden Keys Way
Chandler, AZ 85226

Any input and ideas is welcomed.

Amerijeep, you ROCK! I'm currently deployed to Iraq for my third tour. Offroad mags would be great! I tried to PM you, but our internet connection is iffy at times.
I'd be happy to be a "distrubution center" for the mags if you need. I'm up north near Tikrit. Lotsa Jeep guys in my unit, a couple Chevy guys and even a few misguided Ford clowns. LOL

My address is:
SSG John F. Payne
HHC 3rd BSTB, 82nd ABN DIV
COB Speicher
APO AE 09393

Thanks for thinking of us!

BTW, don't listen to the Main Stream Media about what's going on over here, they get paid to sensationalize everything, remember??? This place is FAR from perfect or thru with change, but it IS improving every day.

Stay safe,
John

John, you're the one that rocks. You're on your third tour? You're a dedgum hero in my eyes.

I am going to make sure that we send a box of magazines to your address. I'm going to make sure that you get the first shipment, in fact. I appreciate your help and we all here really apppreciate you, John.

I appreciate the involvement of our community. I've discovered that we have several members of wranglerforum.com currently deployed. These people really do need these mags!

I've always known this was the best jeep forum on the net, but now I know that it it so much more than that!

Thank you, my friends!!

Amer - Make sure you tell the Post Office that it is just magazines. They should only charge the Media Post rate, which is cheaper. That's a good thing, since it sounds like the weight will be up there.

I am in Germany and have a military address. If need be, they can come to me and I can forward them downrange for free. You'd still have to pay to get them here, so I don't know if it'd make a difference in the big picture.

I had wondred about that.........Frank was going to check with the PO to see if there was any "special" rate that would qualify. Thanks for the info

amerijeep,

A couple of boxes of an assortment of J Rations magazines and CD-ROMs will be on their way to you via UPS either tomorrow or first thing next week.

ezjeeper's recommendation to use media mail is good advice, and will probably be the most cost-effective shipping method. But, just so you know, it takes considerably longer for media mail shipments to arrive. The PO should give be able to give you a reliable ETA.

I have some sealed up, should be able to get them out Monday.

Oh, amerijeep or any other admin. Would you mind getting rid of the word "Member" from under my ID, Looks like were saying "kg4kpg is a &!(k" I can't think of anything witty, so just put anything or have a contest and give someone a decal.
Thanks
