Good luck with the surgery and recovery!

For what it's worth, my husband had shoulder surgery in 2007 to repair damage due to an injury that was causing him to loose range of motion in the shoulder - he wasn't able to lift his arm above his shoulder and he was unable to do push-ups and a lot of other motions. It was a minimally invasive surgery done at Bethesda - took about 5 hours, though. They told him his recovery time would be 2 weeks and sent him home with a bunch of pain killers, but he was up the next day and we spent most of his recovery time on the beach (this was in summer). Healed up real quick, range of motion returned - not quite 100% normal but much, much, MUCH better than what it was.

I will have to see if I still have the pictures from his surgery. They are pretty neat.

Here's a few don'ts that if you follow will help you immensely.

DON'T
- dose yourself on the pain killers, take them as directed.
- take off the shoulder brace until the doctor says to
- disobey the doctor's advice in any way.

Best of luck on the recovery, it will get better. But it won't be a walk in the park.

Hoping today is a better day in terms of being sore / in pain. The pain will stop after a day or two (or three). Don't sweat it.

had the same surgery couple of years ago. follow the directions in reagrds to keeping that sling on, and I'm sure they will have you do some physical therapy. Follow that exaclty, everyday!!
do that, and you will be back to 100%.
I have not had any dislocations since my surgery. i can lift weights, all kinds of sports, and no problems.
good luck

Hope you have a speedy recovery! I don't know what would be more painful, the surgery or not being able to drive my Jeep for three weeks! Good luck and keep us updated!
